PIME US Vocations

PIME US Vocations The PIME Missionaries bring Christ to those who have never heard the Gospel. We invite men to consider the missionary priesthood with us. Is this your calling?

Meet Fr. Luca Bolelli, PIME - an Italian missionary who spent 12 years serving in Cambodia before being called to formation work in Italy.

After years of mission abroad, he now helps guide and accompany future PIME missionaries from around the world as they prepare for their own missionary vocations.

Every missionary story begins with a simple yes—and Fr. Luca’s journey has led him from Cambodia all the way to the seminary in Monza.

❌ Myth: Missionaries must speak every language.
✅ Reality: God calls people first—and equips them along the way.

As Fr. Fernando Cagnin, PIME shares from his 36 years serving in China, learning a new language was never something he imagined for himself. But mission often stretches us beyond what feels comfortable or possible.

Missionaries are not sent because they already have every skill. They are sent because they are willing to trust God, serve others, and keep saying yes to the mission placed before them.

What Br. Lucio loves most about São Paulo is the people—their energy, diversity, and the way community is lived even in such a large and busy city.

Mission here is full of life, encounter, and unexpected moments of grace.

✨ Join us next month as we continue our Witness Wednesday series and meet another PIME missionary serving around the world.

During his recent visit to Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics, Fr. Piero spent time reflecting at the “Footprints” statue—a powerful reminder that even in the moments we feel weakest, Christ continues to carry us.

Vocation and discernment can sometimes feel uncertain. There are seasons where the path ahead isn’t clear, where trust feels difficult, and where we wonder if we’re strong enough to keep going.
But the heart of every vocation is not relying on our own strength, it’s learning to trust the One who carries us.

🙏 Please pray for all those discerning their vocation, that they may trust where God is leading them.

Br. Lucio’s path to mission was shaped by the witness of Raoul Follereau, a French Catholic layman known for dedicating his life to those suffering from leprosy.

Follereau traveled the world advocating for their dignity, calling others to recognize them not as outcasts, but as brothers and sisters. His life became a powerful example of what it means to live the Gospel through action, compassion, and solidarity with the most forgotten.

Through prayer, discernment, and encounter, he felt called to step beyond his comfort zone and serve on mission—trusting that God would lead the way.

Br. Lucio’s mission in São Paulo is rooted in daily service—walking with the local community, supporting parish life, and being present to the people he serves.

In a fast-paced and complex city, mission looks like consistency: showing up, building relationships, and sharing the Gospel through everyday encounters.

Take a moment. Pause the scroll.
And pray with us. 🙏

Fr. Bruno Piccolo, PIME, leads us in prayer for vocations—for hearts open to God’s call and the courage to say yes wherever He may lead.

As the Church continues to need missionaries, priests, and faithful witnesses, we ask the Holy Spirit to guide those discerning their path and strengthen them in faith.

Wherever you are, take a moment to join us in praying for future vocations.

🕊️ Come, Holy Spirit.

Located in South Asia, India is one of the largest and most diverse countries in the world—rich in culture, history, and tradition. With over 1,600 dialects and more than 20 widely spoken languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and Malayalam, India reflects an incredible tapestry of peoples and cultures. While English is commonly used in education, government, and business, language remains deeply tied to regional identity. About 80% of the population practices Hinduism, often described as a way of life, while religious minorities include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and others. Catholics make up about 1.5% of the population, forming the largest Christian community in the country.

Despite its vibrancy and growth, India faces significant challenges. In some rural areas, extreme poverty, lack of infrastructure, and limited access to healthcare continue to affect daily life. Social structures like the caste system can contribute to inequality and marginalization, particularly for those considered outside of it. In certain regions, religious tensions and extremist movements have also created difficulties for minority communities. Many still struggle with illiteracy, poor sanitation, and inadequate access to clean water and proper nutrition.

In the midst of these realities, PIME Missionaries serve through education, outreach, and accompaniment. They work closely with street children—offering housing, education, and pathways to a more stable future—while also supporting orphaned youth in urban centers. In rural areas, PIME operates trade schools that equip young people with practical skills to support themselves and their families. Missionaries also serve communities affected by leprosy, helping to restore dignity by providing education and support to both patients and their children, free from stigma and exclusion.

Through these efforts, PIME continues to walk alongside the most vulnerable—bringing not only material support, but also hope, dignity, and the lived witness of the Gospel.

🙏 Please keep the people of India and the missionaries who serve there in your prayers.
