Hockey has Heart Hockey has Heart is a Michigan based 501(c)(3) non-profit. Our mission is a simple one, hockey people helping hockey families in need.

Did you know that the State of Michigan has more amateur hockey players than any other in our union? Most everyone involved in our sport knows that hockey is a small, tight knit community. We and our children meet and make friends through hockey. We spend so much time together at the rinks that a special bond forms that can last a lifetime. Hockey has Heart was formed as a way to help others in the hockey community at large at any level of the sport; house, travel, high school, adult, college and professional. It is a way for all of us associated with the sport to give back to the hockey community in time of need. When a catastrophe hits one of our “family members” our goal will be to help in whatever way we can. Financial assistance is only one way Hockey has Heart can help. We are working to develop a network of professionals who have ties to the hockey community that can quickly be deployed to a family in time of need. For examples of where Hockey has Heart has been able to help hockey families in need, please visit the section of our website entitled “How to Receive Help.”

With a strong volunteer base, we can continue to expand the services Hockey has Heart can offer but we do need your help. Please consider Hockey has Heart when you plan your charitable gifts this year. Most charities have high overhead, not Hockey has Heart. Over 95% of the funds we raise is directed back to the hockey community. All work is done by volunteers and very few expenses are paid by the general fund. We shamelessly ask for corporate assistance to cover our operating expenses.

All of Michigan share in the achievements of our Michigan hockey players!

Represent! All of the USA men’s hockey players on the ice during the golden goal have Michigan ties.

Jack Hughes, who scored the final goal, attended Plymouth-Canton Educational Park while playing for the U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP) in Plymouth Township.

Connor Hellebuyck was born in Commerce and attended Walled Lake Northern High School. He was the star of the game, making 40 saves.

Zach Werenski is from Grosse Pointe Woods and played with the Detroit Belle Tire minor ice hockey team. He gave the golden goal assist.

Dylan Larkin plays with the Detroit Red Wings, attended the University of Michigan and is from Waterford. Larkin had scored a goal in each of the previous two games.
