It is important to be mindful of what you say during or after a disclosure from a survivor!

They need support and may or may not want guidance.

Offer your help when it’s wanted and support them in any way that you can.

✅ Validate their feelings.

✅ Avoid investigating or passing blame.

✅ Avoid questions like "Why didn't you leave?

Or why didn't you yell for help? Why did you wear that?"

✅ Let them know that they are not alone.

✅ Provide them with resources and allow them to make their own decisions.

✅ Connect them with advocacy and support services.
