When your child needs specialized care hundreds of miles away, the distance can feel impossible. For young Clarieta, getting from Eastport, Maine to Boston Children’s Hospital meant everything. Volunteer Pilot Martti flew her there, making sure the miles between home and her medical team didn't stand in the way. ✈️

Born with esophageal atresia, Evelyn needed specialized care at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, hundreds of miles from her family's home in Grand Rapids, MI. Her mother Theresa flew by her side on free flights to Wilmington, DE, carried there by Pilot Jason on what were his very first SkyHope missions. No family should have to wonder how they'll get their child to treatment. ✈️

Meet the SkyHope team for the 2026 NYC Marathon!

Meet Paige! 🧡✈️ Paige's cousin works as a nurse on the pediatric oncology floor at Golisano Children's Hospital, and hearing her stories of what families endure gave Paige a deep appreciation for organizations like SkyHope that ease that burden. A CrossFit athlete who once dreaded running, she found her stride through a Sunday morning moms' run group and has since completed two half marathons. A proud mom of a six-year-old, Paige is running NYC to show her daughter what discipline and determination can look like.

Meet Adam! 🧡✈️ Adam's mom is a veteran, and watching her navigate the challenges of getting to specialist care over the years opened his eyes to how much distance and transportation can stand between someone and the treatment they need. That's what drew him to SkyHope's mission. A runner since middle school, he picked the sport back up this past year and found it gave him a sense of calm while adjusting to life in a new city. While this is his first marathon, he's training for it with the same drive that's carried him through every new challenge in his life.

Meet Kerry! 🧡✈️ Kerry ran her first marathon with SkyHope last year and was moved by the experience, exceeding her $4,000 fundraising goal and finishing with a smile that never left her face. As an occupational therapist working just minutes from where SkyHope's flights take off, she feels a deep connection to the mission and has shared the organization's stories with her own patients ever since. This year, she's back to run for SkyHope again and hopes to bring her healthcare team along for the mission in the future.

From rehabilitation retreats in Maine to VA medical centers in Virginia, warrior wellness camps in Georgia to adaptive sports programs in New York, SkyHope flies veterans to healing up and down the East Coast. Warrior PATHH programs, service-dog training, VA and military medical centers, adaptive sports.

These are just some of the destinations where those who served fly free. Every flight is free to veterans and their families to get them to the treatment they need.

Sometimes the hardest part of healing is simply getting there. William needed to travel home from Boston to Eastport, Maine after getting orthopedic back surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, with his partner Rebecca right beside him.

Volunteer Pilot Bruce flew them both safely, so William could focus on what mattered most, his recovery. That's what SkyHope does. Free flights for patients who need them. ✈️

Meet Michael! 🧡✈️ As a fourth-year medical student headed into internal medicine, Michael has seen how much a difference reliable transportation can make for patients and families facing serious illness. That truth hit home when his best friend needed urgent air support after a bad ski jump landing, an experience that showed him exactly why SkyHope's mission matters. Running has been his outlet through the demands of medical school, and taking on the NYC Marathon for SkyHope gives that outlet a deeper purpose.

Meet Lea! 🧡✈️ Lea has seen firsthand how much support and access matter during serious illness within her own family, and that's what makes SkyHope's mission to keep people connected to care and to loved ones so meaningful to her. Running became part of her life during her 100-pound weight loss journey, and she's since built a career as a coach helping others discover the same strength and discipline she found. Meet Brianne! 🧡✈️ Brianne's grandfather, a Marine, passed away in 2024 after battling pancreatic cancer, and watching her family navigate that experience showed her how much weight SkyHope's mission can lift for veterans and their loved ones. This will be her first marathon after completing four half marathons, and she's bringing fundraising experience from raising over $4,000 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in college. Running NYC for SkyHope is her way of honoring her grandfather while putting her love of running toward something bigger than herself.
