Introducing the SkyHope team for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon!

Meet Matt! 🧡✈️ A 21-year-old former college baseball player taking on the NYC Marathon for SkyHope, and his reasons are personal. His father, a Navy veteran, lives with lasting health challenges from his service, and his mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2025. Watching his parents navigate serious illness showed him how much access to quality care can change everything. As he puts it, if his family hadn't lived near excellent care, an organization like SkyHope would have been the answer.

Meet Avery! 🧡✈️ A former college athlete, first-time marathoner, and proud Team SkyHope member taking on the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon. With family members who battled cancer and two grandfathers who served in the Navy, SkyHope's mission hits close to home for Avery. This November, he runs for all of them.

Meet Karsen! 🧡✈️ A first-time marathoner turning her NYC debut into something bigger than a finish line. After completing her first half marathon in Dallas just months ago, Karsen is taking on 26.2 this November while fundraising for SkyHope. Her connection to this cause runs deep. Growing up, she volunteered at a Houston nonprofit supporting cancer patients through treatment, spending nights making blankets and serving meals for people navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives. When she discovered SkyHope's mission, it felt like a natural next step.

June is PTSD Awareness Month 💛

Up to 1 in 5 veterans experience PTSD, yet many never seek treatment due to stigma or lack of access to specialized care. These wounds may be invisible, but they are real, and healing is possible. Veterans in rural and underserved areas often face the greatest barriers to getting the help they deserve. This month, we honor their strength and remind them that reaching out for support is a sign of courage, not weakness.

When Kash needed specialized care at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for a neuromuscular evaluation, his family faced the emotional, financial, and logistical weight of traveling from Indiana to Philadelphia. SkyHope provided free flights for Kash, his mom Emily, and his dad so they could focus on what truly matters: Kash's health.

When Erick needed treatment for vascular dissection, aneurysms, and other serious conditions, getting to the right hospitals was critical. SkyHope's volunteer pilots flew Erick to UMass Memorial Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital, removing the stress of medical travel so he could focus on his health. His family has been so grateful for the experience that they're now spreading the word to other patients who may need help getting to care. 💙

SkyHope has been named one of six charities benefiting from MLB Charities' 2026 Armed Forces Day commemoration, alongside Blue Star Families, TAPS, Travis Manion Foundation, the USO, and Wounded Warrior Project.

On Saturday, May 16, Major League Baseball and its Clubs honored service members, veterans, and military families across every ballpark. 100% of the licensed royalties from the Armed Forces Day On-Field Authentic Collection will help support these organizations and the people they serve.

We are humbled to be included and grateful to MLB and its fans for standing with our veterans.
