North Texas Giving has added a new opportunity for all of us who love and care for the animals. GoldStar Horse Rescue and Sanctuary and GoldStar Stables is home to 60 deserving horses and will be participating in this community wide giving opportunity May 15 through May 31st specifically for non-profits who care for animals. This is made possible by Communities Foundation of Texas and with the generosity of the Gigi Gartner Fund. The Gigi Gartner Fund will be matching funds for online donations and the first $500 per donor per organization will be matched. Much more information will be coming so please save the dates for this important fundraising opportunity - May 15 through May 31st!

Good Saturday evening to all of the Sanctuary friends, family and supporters! December 3rd is the 9th annual Giving Tuesday which is a worldwide giving opportunity to support your very favorite charity! We are hoping you will choose us, GoldStar Horse Rescue and Sanctuary. A lot more information will be forthcoming, but just know that this year we are raising money to help in paying our veterinarian costs which are extensive this year. With our aging horses, we provide medical care for these deserving horses, as well as injury care for our younger ones such as Bayou. Please remember us on December 3rd!

As many of you know, Blue Bayou has been struggling with eye ulcers for more than a month. While his left eye had healed, the right eye stubbornly refuses to heal. We have been putting meds in his eyes 6 times a day for weeks and it still has not budged. So it is time for him to receive specialized treatment at Weems & Stephens by their eye specialist. Tomorrow he will journey to the Weems hospital where he will stay for about a week. We are confident that the doctor will be able to save his eye, and after the doctor examines our boy we will post an update as to his treatment and prognosis. His treatment, as well as Crash's cancer treatments all come at a cost to save these precious lives. I know you are all offering your prayers for Bayou and a safe journey for him tomorrow. If you want or are able to help with a donation toward these veterinary bills, remember they are tax deductible, as we are a 501c3 charity. It is easy to donate:

Meet our very own George! George has been at the Sanctuary for many years. He is 25 years old and a very large Paint! He has a sweet disposition and loves to hang with his buddy, Tyson. George came to us with several medical issues, among them an injured esophagus which means his food must be soaked to avoid a choke. George also has hoof problems which our farrier, the very talented Daniel, fashions special shoes and pads to help him stay comfortable. George is very tall, but gentle and loving. His farrier costs are high, as are his veterinary costs, but your generous support help to keep George enjoying his life at the Sanctuary. Hank is such a loveable guy! He has Cushing Disease but takes his daily meds and his pituitary supplement and is feeling pretty good now! To help him stay cool, he recently got his summer body clip (thanks, Chelsea!) and then a new summer fly sheet. Here he is hamming it up for the camera!

Crash and his brother Ringo were inseparable. Ringo crossed the Rainbow Bridge in September 2022. This picture of Crash and Ringo was taken several years ago at the water trough on a sunny Summer day at goldStar. We love Crash and still miss Ringo. A lot.

Crash was such a good boy when he had his 30 day check up at Weems. He had his chemotherapy and returned home where he was greeted by his bestie Scout who missed him for the few hours he was away! He returns in a month for another chemo and we are hoping he will soon be completely well. Crash is a very special horse, with a great personality and we love him! His appetite is good, and he takes it all in stride.

OK - I know, I know....These stuffies are supposed to come from "someone who loves you".. But if I waited for that, Binks would never be part of my stuffies group! So, I just sent him to myself! He came today all wrapped in his sweet blue blanket. Meet Binks the Bat! He is now with the Francis, Violet, Happy Stick Pony group.

Water, water everywhere! Here at the Sanctuary we got substantial rain once again and we are so flooded. We have a good drainage system, but it cannot keep up with the heavy rains we are experiencing here in Farmersville - and many places in north Texas. We hope to see the sun soon!

Meet Hank! He just arrived at the Sanctuary today and join Stoney, Morning Glory, Mr. Bill and Thunder in their pasture. He is a 26 year old quarter horse and so well mannered it is amazing. He road sedately in the trailer to his new home and is a sweet boy! He is simply beautiful and we are excited to provide him with a soft landing. Come and meet him!
