Good morning Farmersville Rotarians!

On this cold and wintry weather Tuesday, what better place to gather for warm food and even warmer, welcoming conversation than the O.E. Carlisle Civic Center as we welcome Ms Dana Riley, Donor Relations Manager of The Samaritan Inn.

Since its’ modest but dedicated beginnings in 1984 - as a 10-bed single men’s homeless shelter - to one of the largest shelters today for upto 226 of our unhoused neighbors in North Texas, The Samaritan Inn aptly serves single men, women, and families.

The four pillars of case management, counseling, career development, and financial literacy serve as The Samaritan Inn’s foundational approach in offering residents tailored guidance, emotional support, career planning, and financial education. And its’ values of HOPE, HEART, OPPORTUNITY, PERSEVERENCE and ENGAGEMENT set the tone for all interactions and collaborations.

Come on out today - you won’t want to miss this!

The Rotary Club of Farmersville extends its deepest and most sincere condolences to Chief Michael Sullivan's wife Tammie, his son Michael, his dear family and friends, the Greater Farmersville and North Texas communities in which he so proudly served, and his comrades in Red and Blue who will feel the impact of his loss. Chief Sullivan was a great leader and protector, an inspiration and mentor to so many, and friend to so many more.

Rest easy and fly high Chief Sullivan.

With great sadness, we inform our community of the passing of our former Chief of Police and dear friend, Michael Sullivan. Chief Sullivan passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Chief Sullivan exemplified the heart of a servant leader. He dedicated his life to selflessly serving others, prioritizing the well-being and growth of his friends, employees, and the community he cherished. He continually challenged those around him to strive for excellence, encouraging us to do and be better.

Chief Sullivan’s legacy as a leader, mentor, and friend will forever remain in our hearts. As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the words of C.S. Lewis: “Friendship is born at the moment when one man says to another, ‘What! You too?” Chief Sullivan’s ability to connect with others and build relationships that transcended roles and titles defined the type of man he was—loyal, kind, and steadfast.

Please keep Chief Sullivan’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. As a community, we will honor his memory and continue to uphold the values he instilled in us.

Sincerely,

The Farmersville Police Department

Just where can you learn a bit about Farmersville’s great history while living in the present and having hands-down the best homemade lunch in town?

Well none other than the Farmersville Rotary Club - which is the place to be today as we welcome Farmersville Historical Society President Heidi Lynn Foist!

We are very grateful to have Heidi join us and share some of the rich history of the Bain-Honaker House and its origins, life, growth and restoration - as well as its anchoring presence in town for nearly 160 years. After five generations of the Bain and Honaker families lived here, Family descendants graciously donated the house and land to the Farmersville Historical Society in 1989.

And don’t forget - this Friday and Saturday afternoon/evenings from 4:00-8:00pm the Historical Society will host candlelight tours and a live wake at the house to help get you in the mood for Halloween! Tickets available:
