It's a Sensory World!

Our vision is that children with special needs are
purposefully included in the community. Founded in October 2007, It’s a Sensory World! It's a Sensory World!

was created by a parent in search of the perfect program for her own child and a highly dedicated teacher. Both women had a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of children with special needs and their families. For children with developmental disorders like Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Processing disorders and other special needs, multiple therapies are rendered o

ne-on-one by a trained professional to overcome specific challenges. However, once kids are discharged from therapy, or for families who are unable to continue therapy due to the expense, it is important they continue maintaining and building upon their skills in a real-life context. Children may also find it difficult to participate in mainstream recreational activities as their language and social skills may not be age-appropriate. is a natural progression from therapy into the world of real-world activities. Our center was created to bridge the gap between therapy and mainstream educational and recreational activities.

Back to school is THIS Wednesday, and we have lots of ducks to get in a row before our students arrive!

We could use some extra hands Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18 to help us tackle:

Building furniture, cleaning, pressing T-shirts, laminating, organizing classrooms and supplies, and plenty of other last-minute projects!

WISHLIST CHALLENGE DRAWING UPDATE!

You all have officially given us the BEST problem to have!

We have had SO many items purchased from our Back-to-School Wishlist that sorting through everything, matching purchases, and getting every name entered into our drawing has practically become a full-time job!

Because we want to make absolutely sure we don’t miss a single person or entry, we’re pushing our Wishlist Challenge drawing to Monday, August 17!

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming participation and generosity. Every item purchased is helping us prepare our classrooms, teachers, and programs for an amazing year ahead, and seeing our community show up for ISW in such a huge way has meant more than we can say.

Happy Birthday, Ms. Cammy! 🎂

Today we're celebrating one of our amazing elementary teachers, Cammy Thornton!

Cammy has a special way of making everyone feel welcome. Her kind heart, warm personality, and genuine care for our students and families shine through in everything she does. She builds meaningful relationships, loves our kiddos wholeheartedly, and is always willing to jump in wherever she's needed.

Whether the day goes exactly as planned or takes an unexpected turn, Cammy rolls with the punches with grace, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Her thoughtfulness, compassion, and dedication make a lasting impact on our students, their families, and our entire ISW team.

🌎Introducing Our 2026 North Texas Giving Day Theme: A World of Possibility🌎

Every child deserves the opportunity to discover what's possible.

At It's a Sensory World!, no two journeys are ever the same.

For one child, possibility may mean speaking their first words. For another, it may be making a friend, learning to regulate big emotions, building independence, or finding the confidence to try something new.

Every milestone is unique. Every journey is worth celebrating.

This North Texas Giving Day, we're inviting our community to help create A World of Possibility where neurodiverse children, teens, and young adults can explore, grow, connect, belong, and thrive.

Together, we're opening doors, creating opportunities, and helping every individual discover just how far their journey can take them.

The adventure begins August 27 with Early Giving, leading up to North Texas Giving Day on September 17.

WOW. We are absolutely blown away.

As of today, 227 items have been purchased during our Back to School Wishlist Challenge!

Every fidget, snack, cleaning supply, classroom material, sensory tool, and teacher treat is helping us prepare to welcome our students back on August 19, and we truly cannot thank this sweet ISW community enough.

Because of the incredible response from our community, we have continued adding items to the wishlist that will be put to good use throughout the school year. If you've been wanting to help and want to enter for a chance to win one of our four prizes, there are still plenty of opportunities to participate!

📢 Closure Reminder

It's a Sensory World! will be closed Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7.

Our team will be preparing for the busy season ahead and taking time to get everything ready for an exciting fall.

Our offices will reopen on Monday, August 10, and we'll be back to respond to emails, phone calls, and messages.

The Challenge Is On. 🎉

We're preparing for the biggest school year in ISW history.

This fall, we'll be opening THREE new Academy classrooms, welcoming more students than ever before. That means more classrooms to prepare, more sensory materials to organize, more teachers to support, and more everyday essentials to gather before the first day of school.

Today, we're kicking off our Back-to-School Wishlist Challenge, and we'd love for you to be part of it.

Today we get to celebrate someone who brings so much heart, strength, and joy to our Alpha team every single day.

Your patience with our kiddos is something truly special. You have an incredible gift for meeting them where they are, loving them fiercely, and helping them grow in ways that make such a lasting impact. The care you pour into each day never goes unnoticed.

One of our favorite things about you is that no one ever has to wonder where they stand with you! You wear your heart on your sleeve, you're honest, bold, and never afraid to speak your mind. Your authenticity is refreshing, and it's one of the many reasons you're such an incredible teammate. Through every curveball, schedule change, and unexpected moment, you roll with the punches and show up for your team and our kids.

Our summer campers had a very special visit from the Farmers Branch Fire Department!

They brought a fire truck and an ambulance for campers to explore, answered questions, and gave our campers an up-close look at the incredible work they do every day. There were so many smiles, moments of excitement, and opportunities to learn as our campers climbed aboard the vehicles, met the firefighters, and discovered what it takes to keep our community safe.

Thank you, Farmers Branch Fire Department, for sharing your time, your kindness, and your hearts with our campers. Experiences like these help make summer at ISW so special!

School is almost back in session, and we're getting ready for one of our biggest years yet.

This fall, It's a Sensory World is opening THREE new classrooms, welcoming even more neurodiverse students into a learning environment designed to help them succeed. With every new classroom comes a long list of supplies that help our students learn, regulate, communicate, explore, and grow.
