After approval, mitigation measures still need to be implemented. Commitments need to be managed. Performance needs to be followed. And projects and conditions may continue to change.

Effective follow-up helps maintain the connection between what was established during assessment and what happens throughout the project life cycle.

Physical displacement and economic displacement aren’t the same problem.

A household may relocate. A business may lose access to customers. A community may experience changes in access to land or resources. And in complex projects, several forms of displacement may need to be addressed at the same time.

How do practitioners navigate these different impacts while balancing competing objectives?
