June is cataract awareness month. In the United States, most people have cataract surgery when vision is only slightly affected and the lens is cloudy. This photo shows a cataract that was removed from a patient in Haiti and it was so advanced, it was literally the color of Coke. These are blinding cataracts and a donation of $50 covers the consumable costs of one cataract surgery with our team! Together, we are curing and preventing blindness! www.haitieyemission.com

What a fantastic day at the "State of the State of Nonprofits" event! It was a great opportunity to connect with other nonprofit leaders and gain valuable knowledge about how to make 2026 our best year ever!

This year for the first time in the Dominican Republic, our team coordinated outreach eye screenings in the rural communities around Santiago. The amazing staff at Invis helped with choosing locations and doing the initial coordination with community partners to reserve space ahead of our arrival. Our team worked daily to adapt the space (which was vastly different each day) and screened over 700 people in just six days! Medications were given to those in need by our optometrist and many others will be on our future surgery schedules for our upcoming mission trips! Preventing blindness in action!

Meet Alexandre, a one year old baby from Haiti. He and his mom travelled to see our team in the Dominican Republic last week and received thorough eye and overall health exams. Our team was able to get him started on some anti-seizure medication he needs to make it safe for him to undergo surgery in the future. We will assist with his cataract surgery as soon as his seizure condition is managed. His father messaged after Alexandre's exams and said "I'll make sure he knows what you've done for him and for our family. I pray to God that he regains his sight. We will be eternally grateful." We are changing lives one precious patient at a time!

Today, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our operating room support staff, scrub techs, circulators, pre-op and sterilizers! They show up everyday with a heart to serve, positive attitude and willingness to work as long as needed to help all of our patients! We appreciate you and could not do this work without you!
