You first met Alexandre a few months ago after we returned from our most recent mission trip. He was unable to have surgery at that time because of a seizure disorder that needed to be stabilized with medication. I'm so happy to report that last week he was able to have his cataract surgery and he is able to see for the first time! It's such a blessing to witness how lives can be changed with generous people from THREE countries working together. His father said, "All I can offer is my deepest gratitude and my prayers that God will bless each of you beyond measure. And it's off! We are donating a microscope to the clinic in the Dominican Republic and filled every square inch of the remaining space in the shipping crate with medical supplies we will need during our February 2027 mission trip. Thank you to Kevin, Bruce, Joe and Harley for moving the microscope and building the crate and thank you to HERO, Northern Plains Surgery Center and Axis Management for sharing space with us to store, build and ship the crate. June is cataract awareness month! The youngest cataract patient that received surgery with our team in Haiti was 18 months old and can see today thanks to your generosity!! Pediatric cataracts are very rare in the United States, but due to lack of pre-natal care and malnutrition, untreated infections and eye injuries, we see them every year during our mission trips. June is cataract awareness month. In the United States, most people have cataract surgery when vision is only slightly affected and the lens is cloudy. This photo shows a cataract that was removed from a patient in Haiti and it was so advanced, it was literally the color of Coke. These are blinding cataracts and a donation of $50 covers the consumable costs of one cataract surgery with our team! Together, we are curing and preventing blindness! www.haitieyemission.com
