Congratulations to Outdoor Adventure Foundation recipient Sawyer Harris on this fantastic Colorado bull elk! His father, Shannon, accompanied him on this hunt. They both live in Roanoke, VA, and contacted us after seeing our TV show, Dream Makers. Steve Helle led the hunt on a private ranch in NW Colorado and coached him through the experience. Sawyer’s dream hunt has always been for a bull elk, and we helped him accomplish that with help from OAF volunteer hunt coordinator Bob Olson. Bob has arranged four separate elk hunts in Colorado for OAF hunters this season! Thanks, Bob! Sawyer was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis, Type II (NF2) in 2020 and has had 7 surgeries since then. There is currently no cure for this potentially deadly illness. It has resulted in 40% hearing loss because of 2 tumors in his brain and the loss of use of his left hand. He has an additional diagnosis of epilepsy. Despite Sawyer’s medical challenges, his determination resulted in a successful first-time Colorado elk hunt. Congratulations to OAF recipient Dawson Vansickle on a fantastic Colorado bull elk! He was able to share this classic Colorado Rocky Mountain elk hunt with his father, Travis. This hunt was arranged by OAF volunteer Bob Olson at the Cross Mountain Outfitters - North Mountain property owned by Zack Prock and Doyle Worbington of J & D Outfitters. Dawson powered through the hunt using a prosthetic leg due to the amputation of his left leg for cancer treatment. He was guided by Mike 'Helm' Helmericks on the hunt. The OAF thanks all of the people who participated in this hunt and all of the supporters and donors that help make big outdoor dreams like this one come true. Another great weekend of pheasant hunting for these Outdoor Adventure Foundation recipients at the Baldhill Creek Adventures game preserve, near Binford, N.D. George and Adam Berger hosted this group for an awesome time with many others pitching, including Heather Berger, Bridget Berger and all of the dog handlers: Adam Berger, Nate Johnson and Jenn Norton. And special thanks to Danny Bakken for several great meals! This annual event is always first class! September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and our friends at Sanford's Roger Maris Pediatric Cancer Center are dressing for the season to 'hunt for the cure for cancer.' Many of our young recipients are going through some type of cancer or are in some stage of recovery from cancer. Let's keep these young people and their families in mind during this month dedicated to this terrible disease, and keep hunting for the cure!

Congratulations to Outdoor Adventure Foundation recipient Tucker Olson on this fantastic bull moose! Tucker was born with spina bifida and has never been able to walk, but he is a passionate hunter, and the OAF is honored to help him pursue that passion. He was accompanied by his father, Troy, and assisted on the hunt by John Adams near Mohall, N.D. John is known as the 'moose whisperer,' and we can't thank him enough for his help! And John wasn't the only one! We have to thank many people near Rock Lake, N.D., for their help on an initial opportunity to start Tucker's hunt off. Special thanks to Brock Mitchell and Chad Haberstroh for their efforts to help Tucker. The Moose went right to Lindsay Peterson of Borderline Taxidermy, Antler, N.D., for caping and shoulder mount, which will be presented to Tucker at the March 20, 2027, fundraising banquet.
