It’s a big bruin alert! Congratulations to Outdoor Adventure Foundation recipient Case Thompson on his first black bear! This is Case’s true dream hunt and the OAF is happy to help make this big outdoor dream come true! He was accompanied by his father and hosted by Manitoba bear guiding experts DOA Outfitters! Nobody does it better than father-son bear guides Darryl Kantimer and Dylan Kantimer! This truly is a first class bear camp with 100% bear opportunities on every single day! Case joined three more recipients from the Minnesota Outdoor Adventure Foundation for an unforgettable group experience that only nature can provide. Getting these kids and families together for an exciting adventure is a unique and relaxing experience that only people who have gone through similar hardships can truly appreciate. No judgment here! Let’s hear it for our Minnesota Outdoor Adventure Foundation chapter and their recipient Jason Chmielewski! So happy for this very deserving veteran!

We’re thrilled to share that Jason Chmielewski from Woodbury, MN harvested a Manitoba black bear at DOA Outfitters the other night on his adventure with us.

Jason served 4 years in the U.S. Army and 11 years in the U.S. Navy, enduring multiple service‑related injuries including two surgeries on his right knee and additional surgeries on his neck, spine, lower back, and left shoulder.

After everything he’s been through, seeing Jason out there in the Manitoba wilderness, smiling behind a successful bear hunt, is exactly why we do what we do.

Congratulations, Jason — you earned this moment.

OAF Recipient Alyvia Church got a nice gobbler this weekend! She was hosted by long-time OAF supporter Mark Hamilton and accompanied by her grandmother, Becky Blekeberg Anklam, and her younger sister Oaklyn. Becky called in this big tom on her slate call in the last 15 minutes of hunting for the weekend! Alyvia has gone through a lot in her young life, with 8 surgeries and countless medical procedures to help her keep on track with an active life. OAF recipient Paul Lundberg got his first turkey with the help of master turkey hunters and father-son team Terry and Wyatt Nelson! It was a family quest with Paul’s father, Matt, and mother, Anne, in a blind right next to Paul’s to watch the whole thing! Terry and Wyatt took some time to teach Paul a few things about hunting gobblers and now Paul says he’s ready to try it on his own next time, and special thanks to team-gobbler member and OAF supporter Kristi Marshik for her efforts on the hunt. The OAF is happy to be part of this passing of the torch and passion for turkey hunting from a great father-son hunting team to a young up and coming turkey hunter. Paul continues to fight the effects of cancer but has a bright future in life and in turkey hunting!
