Pride Collective and Community Center

Pride Collective and Community Center All welcome! We are currently located at 1105 1st Ave South in Fargo. Check our calendar for upcoming events and opportunities. We might surprise you!

Seeking to create a sense of community while promoting education and activities aimed at furthering the social and physical well-being and development of the LGBTQ+ community in the Red River Valley. The Fargo Moorhead Pride Collective and Community Center first opened in October of 2000, with the purpose of creating a safe and inclusive space for LGBTs of the area. Like many important resources,

it was the product of a number of generous donors, and dedicated volunteers, with the right combination of passion and that wonderful Midwestern work ethic, which made this much needed space a reality. The center has moved a few times, but our mission has remained steadfast: “To create a sense of community and promote education and social activities aimed at furthering the social and physical well-being and development of the LGBT community in the Red River Valley.”

We are maintaining our focus, but with a fresh innovative perspective. We have transformed the look of the space to make it more inviting, and are working to implement exciting new programming to better suit the current needs of our community. What we pledge to you:

We will maintain a library of relevant and current mixed media. We will continue to create and host a safe and welcoming environment to socialize, find ‘friendly’ resources, and find timely information on LGBT related issues in. We will advocate/educate within the FM area on issues pertaining to our mission. We will strive to build solid networks and connections within the community; and help you make connections as needed. We will hold fundraisers and seek donors, and find ways to increase our organization’s solvency. We will organize educational, social, and charitable/volunteer activities that are current and relevant to LGBTs in this region. What we ask of you:

Respect differences, we do not judge here. Do not “out” anyone; that is THEIR choice to make. If you mess it up, clean it up. Give what you can to ensure that we can continue to thrive. Communicate with us! Let us know how we’re doing, and share your suggestions. A bit on the alphabet:

The FM Pride Collective and Community Center is an inclusive space. We strive to create an environment that is welcoming of all individuals regardless of their identity or sexuality. As a board we are working diligently to seek out the unmet needs of our community and the individuals it is comprised of. So why are we only using the letters LGBT, instead of LGBTQA, or LGBTQQAAI, or GLBTIQQAAP? There is plenty of debate on which letters are appropriate, how many letters are appropriate, and which order the letters ought to be placed in. After careful consideration, research, and discussion, we’ve chosen to opt for simplicity instead of creating what is commonly referred to as ‘alphabet soup’. Even within each letter, there is a multitude of differences. For example, not all ‘L’s face the same type of issues, not all ‘G’s like to throw parties, and some people identify with multiple letters. If we try to incorporate the vastness of our specific identities into the rainbow alphabet, we would end up with the letter version of pi: not easy to say, not easy to type, stretching out into infinity, and still not even close to covering everyone’s differences. Instead of trying to create the sense of inclusion by assigning everyone a letter, we intend to focus on action by implementing programming to fit your needs, acting as an ally to you, seeking out your input, and advocating for your rights. If you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, intersex, transgender, straight but allied, questioning, queer, asexual, pansexual, polyamorous, etc ad infinitum, you have a place here.

June calendar drop for PCCC.
On Pride: As your timeline will gets filled with corporations and people that slap a rainbow on things and call that community while we watch our brothers, sisters, elders, siblings ache everyday, we implore you to celebrate pride in the way it was meant to be.
Pride is not about corporations or the people who consistently choose money and power over people. It is not about the people who silence others, who abuse their power to become yet another victim to colonial capitalism that will inevitably be their ruin.
It is for us.
The q***rs, the weirdos, the freaks who want nothing more than to dance with and for people who try so hard to see that they matter.
Pride month is about accountability and holding each other up through the precipice so we continue to rise and grow unto the stars themselves.
Take time and care to see the people who continue to be belittled, persecuted and silenced for wanting more for their community.
Support the Trans people of color who started and continue to bring us through it all, even when parts of their community CONTINUE to turn against them because they aren’t the “right” kind of q***r.
Listen to the voices in the room who constantly fall on deaf ears, be mindful of the space you take up, and push back even when it’s not easy.

In q***rness, solidarity and a whole lot of unapologetic pride,

PCCC

It's our 4th annual If You're Trans This is Your Birthday Party. It's actually a pretty casual hangout, but we will eat free cupcakes and drink free drinks (n/a). There will be Jackbox to play and crafts to do! Write yourself a birthday card or a love letter! Nail polish bar and pin the tale on the TERF (dealer's choice).

Come celebrate YOUR birthday within your community.

We also sing "Happy Birthday to We" right in the middle and it is very fun.

May calendar drop!

We have had a lot of things happen in the last month or so , apologies for radio silence from us, it truly was not intentional. Some updates!

-We’ve had so many board interviews in the last week and are pumped about the prospect of more excited hands to add at the center.

-Q***r cub scouts and the BIPOC Crew have been going great and I would keep your eyes peeled for upcoming events from them!

-Thank you so much for a lovely TDOV! We want to hear what y’all want to see more of, looking into more skill shares coming up. Please email or dm with thoughts or suggestions.

Thank you everyone that has supported us as we continue to build/rebuild what the PCCC is in the community.

Happy Mayday to all immigrants and Workers of the world.
To the liberation of all peoples and the abolishment of all systems that repress/kill/enslave us.

In Q***rness,
PCCC

We had a marvelous time last night at TDOV and can’t thank everyone enough for the show of support and love throughout the night.

Got a couple of house keeping things:

1. Parachigo is hosting a TDOV Brunch this morning from 11-1pm that we are going to close the center in solidarity with. Check it out and get some muffin tops if you can.
2. If you came to TDOV last night and have photos you want to share, we’d absolutely love them to be either posted in the comment section or you can email them to [email protected]!

Okay gurlies, I hope everyone gets some rest, good food, water and lots of love today.

In so much gratitude, q***rness, and solidarity,
PCCC
