Animal Science activities and projects can provide opportunities for youth to develop responsibility, patience, understanding, and a multitude of life skills by regularly caring for animals. Furthermore, by learning to feed and care for animals, 4-H members involved in the Animal Science projects learn about animal health, nutrition, physiology, evaluation and reproduction. Animal Science is diver
se and does not always just incorporate the animal, as the environment is a key component of sustainability too. A 4-H member can learn breeds of animals, their characteristics, uses, how to identify them and their influence in the industry. As a result, they can then apply this knowledge to our current industry. Members in the 4-H Animal Science area learn to understand marketing and the economic importance of the livestock industry as well as how to keep and use records. Our 4-H lead to inspire and industry, they are our future. North Dakota State University is an equal opportunity educator and employer.
