For some families, the term "Rainbow Baby" feels hopeful and meaningful. For others, it doesn't fit their story at all.
Because a baby born after loss is not a replacement for the child who died.
And the child who died was never the storm.
A new baby can bring incredible joy while grief remains present. You can celebrate the child in your arms while deeply missing the child who should be beside them. One love does not replace another.
It's important to make space for the stories that don't include a rainbow baby.
Not every parent wants to try again. Not every parent is able to. Some are still deciding. Some have tried and experienced more loss. Some families are complete exactly as they are.
Every child matters. Every story matters. π
There is no next chapter that grief requires of you.
