Meet team member Ashlee

From the very beginning, Ashlee has been part of the foundation of Pride & Joy Rescue. As a founding board member, she has been through every high and low right alongside us.

She has rolled bales by hand, done chores in snow squalls, unloaded hay in freezing weather, chased loose horses, answered rescue calls, and stayed through the late nights that so many people never see behind rescue work. She has put in the hard, gritty work that keeps this place running day after day. 🐴❄️

Over time, Ashlee has also stepped more into an administrative and organizational role, helping Connie with messages, ideas, planning, and the behind-the-scenes work that is just as important as the physical labor. But make no mistake — she is still very hands-on in the barn and never hesitates to jump in wherever needed.

In rescue, it takes people who are willing to wear ten different hats at once, and Ashlee has done exactly that for years with dedication, loyalty, and heart.

We are incredibly thankful for everything she brings to the rescue, the animals, and the team. She is truly an invaluable asset to this rescue family. ❤️

It’s been a busy week for all rescue staff! Thank to them for all the hard work.

1. Cash intake - he is settling in well. He has a few pounds to lose. He is looking for a sponsor for his feet and vet appointments. His eyes will need to be looked at, and possibly a float. He has been dewormed and in partial quarantine.

2. Toby intake- he settled in nice last night. He received probiotic, electrolytes last night. Today wormed and B12. He will need a sponsor for feet. His on going eye issues will be determined on his vet intake. He will need vaccination.

3. We have three horses awaiting intake, currently staff is caring for them onsite of their current home. We plan for them to come to rescue this week. They have been dewormed and all 3 will need farrier sponsor and they need dental.

4. Sally is doing well, the staff clipped her to aid in this heat with her cushings. She will need a farrier sponsor, float and her annual vet with vaccination.

5. Bo is doing nicely, same silly boy. He will need a sponsor for farrier, possible dental and his annual with vaccination. He needs X-rays to check on his DTTF injury.

6. Willie, he will be getting some injections but that cost is $400. He will need a medication sponsor, farrier, cray to check the progress of navicular, annual visit, float and vaccination.

7. Phoenix., she is coming along, we can walk up to her and touch while she is in the herd. Hang out and she is more curios then ever. She needs a sponsor for farrier, annual with vaccines and dental. She has a sponsor for grain and training treats.

8. Sully- he is sure doing well, under training to learn how to ride without his eyes. He will need a farrier sponsor and annual check for his eyes, vaccinations and dental

9. Gunnar- he is living life large and in charge. He will need annual vet, dental and vaccination. He has a grain sponsor but can use a farrier one.

Farrier is $55 per horse

X-rays are $220-$350

Annual with vaccines and float $350 per horse

We have hay locked in for the next year to our amazing hay guy Gage Thompson. Just have to pay the cost $4000 for rescue horses.

Let see how much the Herd of Hope can raise for the above.

It’s a heavy burden for Rob and Connie financially, physically and emotionally.

Help the herd ,$1,5,10,100 it all helps.

Our organization has recently had the privilege of participating in various enriching experiences, offering opportunities to support both equine and human community members. Regrettably, success often brings challenges. The Las Vegas show's recent events have caused concern, and we extend our sympathies to those impacted. Horses are cherished as beloved family members, not just animals. We can only imagine the distress experienced by those affected. Despite our extensive experience, some situations remain unsettling. Please give your animals extra care and attention. We've taken extra precautions tonight, ensuring everyone's safety. Pride and Joy Rescue wishes those horses a speedy recovery.

Some of you may already recognize Audrey from a few years ago when she adopted Zara from the rescue. What started as an adoption became something much bigger — family. 🐴

Over time, Audrey found her way back to the rescue, not just as an adopter, but as part of our barn family. Her dedication, willingness to jump in wherever needed, calm presence around the animals, and genuine love for what we do have not gone unnoticed.

With a solid understanding of equine care and currently studying in the animal world. Audrey brings both knowledge and heart to the barn every single day.

So with that, I am very pleased to officially announce Audrey as our Barn Manager at Pride & Joy Rescue. ❤️

This role is more than feeding schedules and chores. It takes leadership, compassion, trust, and the ability to help care for animals that often come to us scared, neglected, or needing a second chance. Audrey has already shown she is more than capable of stepping into that responsibility.

We are excited to watch her continue to grow alongside the rescue and help shape the future of our barn and animals.

Congratulations Audrey — and thank you for being part of this crazy, exhausting, rewarding rescue life with us. 🐴❤️

Just got our dinner at Subway in Clearwater. Toby is riding like a champ.

Staff has his new home all ready for him. ❤️

We have spent 1215 miles hauling this week. From one side of North Dakota to one side of Minnesota.

Time for some rest.

🔎 Where in the World Are Connie & Rob? – The Final Reveal 🔎

The miles have been traveled.
The guesses have been made.
And now it’s time to meet the reason for our journey.

🐴 Everyone, meet Toby.

Many of you followed his story. Many of you advocated for him. Many of you hoped he would get the chance he deserved.

After completing his 30-day quarantine, we hit the road to bring him home to Pride & Joy Rescue, where he will now begin his next chapter.

Toby is blind in both eyes and, from appearance, it is likely that one eye may need to be removed. We will have him evaluated and work with our veterinary team to determine the best path forward for his care.

But here’s what we learned almost immediately…

❤️ Toby is incredibly sweet.

Despite not being able to see the world around him, he seeks out people, enjoys attention, and has shown us nothing but kindness.

Now he’ll have the time, care, veterinary attention, and patience he deserves while we learn more about him and help him navigate his new surroundings.

For now, Toby will settle into quarantine at Pride & Joy Rescue, where he can decompress, adjust, and let us get to know the horse behind the story.

Thank you to everyone who followed along with our clues and cheered him on before he ever stepped foot here.

Welcome home, Toby.

Your future starts now. ❤️🐴
