One of the easiest ways to bring Anishinaabemowin into your home, classroom, or childcare setting is through songs.
For young children, music makes second language learning fun, engaging, and easy to repeat. Songs can be used during transitions, playtime, cleanup, snack time, or simply throughout the day to increase exposure to Anishinaabemowin.
Our Nagamodaa (Let's Sing!) page includes a collection of Anishinaabemowin songs, along with a new poster that shares practical tips for using songs to support language learning with children ages 0–6.
Check it out here: https://www.wakingupojibwe.ca/resources/families/nagamodaa-letssing/
You don't need to be fluent to use songs as a language-learning tool. Learning alongside children is a great way to build confidence and increase the amount of Anishinaabemowin heard and spoken each day.
