We are overwhelmed by the support and great comments we have received this week about our bringing back Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to north Fargo two years ago - over 20 new families have signed up for the program over the last two days! A question we have received: how can we financially support the LOCAL program? Our only expense is books for kids for we are all volunteer team!

From our club president this morning:

"As I was writing an email to the over 400, yes 400, families participating in the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program in north Fargo this morning, I get an email from Dolly's foundation of an anonymous donation to OUR local program. This donation covers nearly half of our current monthly cost for over 400 books to local kids.

To that anonymous donor: WE SEE YOU and THANK YOU! Big news about this north Fargo effort that Fargo Rotary Club brought back two years ago will be coming in September!"

This week’s Fargo Rotary Club featured Sean Brandendenburg, the Moorhead Parks & Recreation Director, & Steven French, who leads the Moorhead Community Engagement department. We learned many interesting facts about the number of park areas Moorhead offers & the numerous events the city hosts.
Events to look forward to include:
* the weekly Tuesday Farmer’s Market 3:30-6:30
* next Wednesday evening’s River Arts event at Viking Ship Park featuring the band October Road at 6pm. Let’s meet there & enjoy food trucks, cold beverages, activities, inflatables, & more! Free entry.

Do you know “The 4 Way Test”? It’s a universal ethical guide, & our Fargo Rotary Club proudly recites it at the start of every meeting.

The Four Questions Broken Down:

1. Is it the truth?
Acts as the bedrock of trust and reality, cutting through deception and dishonesty.

2. Is it fair to all concerned?
Demands moral equality and protects against bias, exploitation, or self-interest.

3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Encourages active, positive connections and treating others with mutual respect.

4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?Focuses on the greater common good rather than pure personal or corporate profit.

Why It Matters

Universal Standard: It crosses all cultural, religious, and national lines without imposing rigid rules.

Practical Compass: It shifts ethical decision-making from an abstract debate into four quick, memorable questions anyone can apply in daily life.

Conflict Resolution: It guides people toward peaceful, honest, and mutually rewarding solutions.

We had a very informative presentation of the diversion project at this week’s Rotary meeting. Jason Benson presented us with photos, facts, & timelines, as he is the Exutive Director at the Metro Flood Diversion Authority.
We also enjoyed a delicious lunch of pork loin with fingerling potatoes or a delicious cold & refreshing wrap.
