Grateful for this community who helped to raise $19,808 to support refugee and immigrant families at For the Nations DC (If you want to help get us to 100%, the link is below!)

Because people like you give, little girls like her can attend early childhood classes (all in English) at no cost while their moms are studying English. At For the Nations DC, more than 300 people of all ages attend classes every year—learning English, hearing the Good News, and getting practical help so they can thrive in our community.

Loving our neighbors—and flourishing together in friendships—is a blessing.

An FTNDC volunteer recently said, “Every week, I am excited to come spend time with my new friends.”

So many volunteers and students come to For the Nations DC because of the people. Teaching English is only one part of it!

Day after day, people slowly build relationships that go beyond classroom roles, and both volunteers and students start saying “my friend.”

That’s the beauty of the cross-cultural community that God has built at FTNDC. Relationships matter! We’re so grateful for the volunteers who invest every week in these relationships, inside and outside of the classroom.

Refugees and immigrants need support that lasts long after they arrive in the U.S. Not only do they want to learn English, they also want deep friendships, especially since many left friends and family behind when they came here.

In the last year, we had the joy of walking with 205 adult ESOL students at For the Nations DC. English is a very difficult language to learn, and every person’s learning pace is different. In all class levels, students showed great dedication in their studies and improved their confidence in speaking English. Their hard work is inspiring, and we can’t wait to continue learning together in the new year!

Classes start in just a few weeks, and we are still looking for dedicated people to serve as volunteers.

If you want to build relationships and minister in a cross-cultural context, we’d love to have you join us!

Daytime service opportunities are available in our Adult ESOL program and early childhood program.

Evening opportunities are available with the Kids’ Club reading program, which serves children and their families.

Commitment levels cary from a couple times per month to 3 times per week—find the opportunity that works for you!
