Auxiliary members presented the Churchill County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit with a $1,000 donation today in front of the Stuf N. Such Thrift Store in support of the unit's K-9 handling and training program. Both handler and dog go through the narcotics detection training program together. The newest addition to the unit is Jiggs, an 18-month-old female Sheppard handled by K9 Deputy Leary. Jiggs joins Tokos, the male Sheppard handled by K9 Deputy Ugalde. Beautiful and amazing animals - and friendly but only when their handlers allow them to be.

Banner Auxiliary Special Project team ladies Nancy Balash, Brenda Green, Shirley Britt, Karen Jacobs, and Jo Petteruti volunteered at the Elks lodge on Veterans Day where about 40 people enjoyed beef stew, chicken tortilla soup, garden salad with choice of dressings, garlic bread and desserts. The ladies did the decorating, and helped with cooking, serving, and clean-up alongside Kathleen, the Elks kitchen manager and her daughter Melissa. The team also prepared gift bags containing socks and a tribute flag star with thanks for their service for all veterans.

The Auxiliary membership met on November 10 at the Fallon Convention Center and enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving lunch catered by Wild Horse Cafe that included turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and vegetables. October and November birthdays were also celebrated.

Nominations were made for all board positions, and the membership will vote on those during the December 8 meeting, also to be held at the Convention Center.

A gorgeous harvest wreath, made by Kitti Bennett, was raffled off and Miss Kitti is planning to make a Christmas wreath to be raffled off at the December meeting.

In addition to board members giving their reports, it was also noted that mandatory training for all volunteers will be held on January 9 at 10:00 am in the hospital's Tahoe conference room.
