I came up to the local library to prepare and finalize this new page for the Andreas Peterson Family Descendants, and when I found the seat I wanted to work in and sat down I was facing a wall that had a quote on it that I think is particularly appropriate for the job immediately before me. It said,
"The time to influence the life of a child is 100 years before it is born."
I love that this quote came to me, as I was about to sit down and organize a page designed to keep our family connected to one another, although separated by many miles that are between most of us.
How grateful I am for the events that took place 100 years ago, and much, much longer ago than that, which have created the family and circumstances I now enjoy. What a great heritage we have and what a wonderful family has been created by it!
I have great hopes that this page will help to strengthen our family even more, help us to stay in touch with one another through everyone's participation.
I will publicize the reunions we have here in Fallbrook with it, and I also encourage all of you to post and publicize family events that you're having in your areas, as well and share your photos with the rest of us.
Recently my sister, Linda, made a fantastic suggestion and I think that this might be the perfect way to achieve what she was thinking of… She suggested that we compile a book of everyone's favorite memories everyone has Uncle Arlan, since he recently passed away. I LOVE THAT IDEA, that way of honoring him and the contribution he made to my life! She thought that maybe we could have it put together in time for the Peterson Family Reunion that will be held in Fallbrook on March 28th of this year. I wasn't quite sure that we had enough time to do that before the reunion, but having this page on Facebook will allow us to all contribute to a GROUP DOCUMENT that we can all put together at our own convenience and in a timeframe that works for us individually. (I've still got to figure out how to make that happen, but I will do it as soon as possible.) I would LOVE to have a group document like that on any member of the family that anyone would like to start writing about, so if you've got someone in mind, please start a document that we can all contribute to and read and enjoy! (Once I figure out how it is done, I'll post instructions on here….and if any of you already know how to do it, PLEASE SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE WITH THE REST OF US!) We could really have a lot of wonderful information about generations of our family, if we all contribute!
One last thing….I'm going to send an invitation to join this group for every family member I have an email address for…but I'm CERTAIN that I don't have EVERYONE'S. PLEASE INVITE YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS TO JOIN/FOLLOW/AND LIKE THIS PAGE! I'm quite new to Facebook and am not totally familiar with how it all works, but I know that there are those of you who can make their way around in cyberspace. I'm going to make mistakes and stumble and fumble around in here while I learn how to use it and I hope you'll be patient with me.
If you can see improvements that need to be made, or want to add something wonderful that I haven't thought of, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO THAT! Nothing would make me happier than to see you members of the "younger generation" take this and run with it! Us old guys will try to keep up!
Love to all of you! And now, in keeping with my impulsive nature of jumping in with both feet, I'm going to try to figure out how to CREATE AN EVENT that I can invite you all to!!! The Peterson Family Reunion in March! Be looking for it!
