Music that Matters - Art that Inspires
A premier concert venue located in the Battleship Cove area of Fall River, the Narrows features live performances and events, as well as spectacular art from a century-old mill building overlooking Mount Hope Bay. The Narrows, a fully accessible venue, is comprised of two visual art galleries, a performance theater and visual artist studios. The Narrows Cent

er started as a 1,500 s.f. gallery exhibition space located where the North and South Watuppa Ponds come together, near a waterway the locals refer to as the Narrows. Thanks to generous community support and strong stewardship, the Narrows Center grew into a 15,000 s.f. arts venue located on the 3rd floor of a former American Printing Company (APC) mill building on Anawan Street on the historic Fall River MA waterfront. In the early 20th century, APC was one of the largest textile operations in the world. The Narrows’ 3rd floor space, with its elegant architectural design, high ceilings and spectacular views of Mount Hope Bay and Battleship Cove, is the ideal acoustic and visual backdrop for what has come to be known as a regional destination for the visual and performing arts. In 2017, the Narrows purchased our gorgeous mill building and tripled the area in which we present live music, visual art, artists’ studios, classroom instruction and arts-related businesses. The Narrows’ performance space has earned a reputation as one of the finest music venues on the East coast. With a state-of-the-art sound system, up close and comfortable seating and a respectful and knowledgeable audience, the Narrows has become a favorite tour stop for some of the finest musicians in the world. The Narrows is a premier venue for diverse performers of blues, folk, rock, jazz, roots, indie, bluegrass and other genres. Musical luminaries like Los Lobos, Blue Öyster Cult, Susan Tedeschi, Dr. John, Rosanne Cash, Robert Cray, Al Di Meola, Odetta, and Richie Havens have all graced the Narrows’ stage. We have also been at the forefront of developing and supporting newer artists like Carolina Chocolate Drops, Grace Potter, The Avett Brothers and Lake Street Dive. The Narrows has created a unique symbiotic relationship between artist, audience and venue that results in a world-class experience for all. The Narrows Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization continuing to present exciting ways to engage the public, host one-of-a-kind musical guests and showcase unique works of art. Offering educational arts programming, local school tours and free Spindle City Festivals, the Narrows proudly presents an ever-growing access and fellowship in the arts.

The Airwaves Belonged to the People: WBCN and The American Revolution screens this Saturday, May 30, at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, followed by a post-screening discussion and Q&A with director Bill Lichtenstein and WBCN’s Sam Kopper. The award-winning film tells the story of the legendary Boston radio station where music, politics, news, and community converged on the air — helping to end a war, drive an unpopular president from office, and give voice to movements that previously had not been heard. Featuring rare archival material from Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Jane Fonda, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Garcia, Lou Reed, David Bowie, and many others. See the film the Boston Globe said audiences “watch with awe.”

World class entertainment in an intimate setting at an affordable price! Narrows will always prioritize affordability and that's not changing any time soon. We know a concert night out in Boston can easily turn into a $300 night when ticket prices are $150+, parking is $20+, and a single drink can be $15+.

One week away! Narrows Center is pleased to present a film screening of The Airwaves Belonged to the People: WBCN and The American Revolution. The film — newly re-released under its expanded title — tells the story of how a Boston rock radio station helped ignite the cultural and political revolution of the late 1960s and beyond, becoming both participant and platform for the anti-war movement, civil rights, women’s and LGBTQ rights, and the rise of countercultural media.
Featuring members of the legendary WBCN airstaff, along with rare early radio appearances by David Bowie, Lou Reed, Jane Fonda, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Garcia, Bruce Springsteen, and Patti Smith. Tickets at www.narrowscenter.org

The box office and galleries will be closed on Saturday, May 23. Have a great weekend!

Some of you may have heard us talking about community connection and collaboration before shows, and here's a great example of that. Thanks to our friends at FRACC, we have a new donation of 5 guitars, 10 ukuleles, and 2 violins going to Rawkstars, a great organization bringing music lessons to Boys and Girls Clubs throughout New England.

This is another way that your continued support impacts not just the Narrows Center, but an entire community of dedicated groups that are committed to making music and art a reality for kids in our city. We thank you for your continued support.
