Today, we celebrate YOU—your hard work, dedication, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to our students, families, schools, and one another.

The strength of our union comes from the people who show up every day, support each other, and continue fighting for the respect, dignity, and working conditions educators deserve.

Five years of encouraging students, building confidence, creating connections, and making a difference one school day at a time.

Year 11 started with an extra-special end-of-day visitor for Mrs. Lieberman! 💕👶

Mrs. Lieberman, a Special Education teacher at Doran, returned from maternity leave, kicking off her 11th year in education. After a full first day back, her little one stopped by for some much-needed baby snuggles.

This sweet moment is also a reminder of why paid parental leave matters. Under our FREA contract, educators have four weeks of paid parental leave, along with the ability to use accrued sick time—giving our members more meaningful time to recover, bond, and care for their growing families.

This is what collective bargaining looks like: contract language that directly improves the lives of educators and their families.

Here’s to Year 11, Mrs. Lieberman, and to celebrating both the students we care for at school and the families waiting for us at home.

Community is at the heart of everything we do in our schools. 💙

As Mrs. Roussel begins her 28th year as a Special Education teacher at Letourneau Elementary, she welcomed students back alongside a familiar face from the community—who also happens to be her daughter-in-law.

Moments like this are a wonderful reminder that strong schools are built through strong relationships. When educators, families, neighbors, and community members come together, our students feel more connected, supported, and surrounded by people who are invested in their success.

For nearly three decades, she has helped students find their voices, build confidence, and thrive in a new language while honoring the languages and cultures they bring with them.
