United Neighbors of Fall River is one of 22 coalitions across the state of Massachusetts. We are dedicated to supporting children and strengthening families by coordinating resources already in the community and increasing neighborhood based activities that empower residents and build partnerships. Each year the coalition creates an action plan based on the needs brought forward by residents in an effort to create a safer and more caring community for families and children.

IMPORTANT COLD WEATHER ADVISORY:
If you don’t have heat, are experiencing homelessness, or just need a place to warm up - shelters will be open and a warming center will be open on Saturday. Details below:

IMPORTANT COLD WEATHER ADVISORY:

On Saturday, February 4th, Christ the Rock Church, located at 414 Rock Street in Fall River, will host a warming center from 7am – 4pm for anyone in need of temporary warming. Residents may drop in without calling.

In response to the upcoming cold weather, the First Step Inn and the Timao Center, Fall River’s overflow homeless shelter located at the Spindle City Church, are prepared to accommodate anyone in need of shelter. Those seeking overnight placement should contact the First Step Inn by calling 508-679-8001 or 508-974-9972. The First Step Inn is located at 134 Durfee Street, Fall River, MA 02720.

Residents can also contact a 24-hour hotline for shelter needs at 508-676-3528. The Mayor’s Office will also be answering calls over the weekend at 508-324-2600.

Street outreach workers from the City of Fall River and Steppingstone Inc have been and will continue to patrol the city to ensure that anyone in need of shelter has access.

In addition to City services, the Church of the Holy Spirit and First Baptist Church, assisted by the Greater Fall River Council of Churches, will be serving a free community meal at 6p.m. at First Baptist Church (228 N Main St). Doors will open at 4pm before the meal. Following the meal, the Church of the Holy Spirit (160 Rock St.) will remain open through the evening until Saturday morning, when the warming center will open.
