Happy National Carnivorous Plant Day everyone!

Hello to all!
A member named Don Schillerwill be hosting a program for the May meeting, ‘How to build and care for a bog garden’. The date is May 30 at 1pm. I know this is later in the month than a normal meeting, but this is what fits doing it at their house.
Don has had pretty good luck with bog gardens, a mixture of venus flytraps, lower growing sarracenia purpurea and taller growing sarracenia leucophylla and sarracenia minor type plants. In this meeting, he will demonstrate the way he build his bog, which materials he use, how he arranges plants and care for the bog.
There are 2 options for this meeting, and the choice is up to the group on what we do.
• Choice 1: This would be a demonstration class where I will show you how I build my bog. Then you are able to take instructions, go to your grow area and build your own bog, using your own materials and plants, based on the demonstration.
• Choice 2: Watch the demonstration part of the meeting, and then build your own bog on site. This would mean you bring your own container, peat, perlite and plants. However, other members of the club would be there to guide you and offer advice.
Either way is fine with me, it just depends on what your wishes are, but this will be a group decision based on the poll and email responses.
This meeting will also be a chance to see their grow areas for nepenthes, water table for sarracenias, a little greenhouse for some of the VFTs and what Don does for dormancy. We will finish the day with some snacks after the meeting.
I will send out reminders, but I will need to have RSVP for this meeting by May 22nd as it is at a members house and I will only send the address to those that RSVP that they will attend.

Happy March everyone! We just wanted to give you a small plant update for the month. You may have noticed slightly warmer temps occurring which may trigger temperate plants to come out of dromancy. Please trim away pitchers from last season to allow new growth to develop. Be sure to take a look at the rhyzome for Pitcher Plants and Venus Fly Traps. If the bulb/ rhyzome is firm than it is still alive.

We are always happy to chat with folks who have questions regarding these plants. We also do talks for groups/ schools if that might be of interest to anyone. So please comment or send us a DM.

November Meeting
Our November meeting will be on the 22nd, 1pm at 1405 Lilac Dr N, Minneapolis, Door 1.

We will discuss Pinguicula, butterwort. Questions you may ask: How do I care for this? What media do I plant it in? How do I propagate it? What else do you want to know on these?
Plus, I will bring some sarracenia seeds. The goal is for you to start growing these seeds. To give you the best chance, we will talk about cold stratification and how to get these started and give them the best chance to mature.
I will add more details as we get closer, but you will take home something to grow from this meeting, so plan to attend to add to your knowledge and your collection.
