We have just been made aware of an attempted email spoofing scam using our club's name to ask for gift cards to "help veterans."
They're using my name (Lori Paximadis) and emailing people in the community who may be connected with our club in one way or another.
THIS IS NOT COMING FROM US.
They seem to be using a spoofed email address with my name as the "sender." I'm not sure where they are getting the emails from; our membership list is not public, and we do not share the emails we collect with anyone beyond what we need to do to run our events.
If you receive one of these emails, please send a private message and let me know. I may ask you a few questions to help track down the source.
Be careful online. Check the actual source of any emails you receive that ask you for donations. In this particular case, it's an obvious tell because the email address is very clearly NOT my email address or the club's email address. (That is not a foolproof check, because those settings can be changed, but that's the first thing to check.)
