This fire today highlights our strong mutual aid relationships and how absolutely critical Westcom Fire Dispatch is to our WestShore communities.
At the time this fire was reported all on duty Fairview Park firefighters were already out on other emergency calls. Westcom immediately dispatched the appropriate fire apparatus from surrounding communities who arrived quickly and extinguished the fire under the command of Car 30. (Fairview Park fire Chief) before their firefighters were able to clear from the hospital and respond.
The highly skilled dispatch services that we all receive from Westcom are an integral part of how the Westshore fire departments, specifically Fairview Park, Rocky River, Bay Village and Westlake, are able to operate seamlessly. Today that made the difference between what was able to be confined to a relatively small fire and the home being a total loss. Great job to everyone who was involved today!
