My Eagle Scout Project is creating Emergency Lockdown Buckets for all four Fairview Park City Schools to put in their buildings. Thank you for your time.

I am currently a Life Scout and the Senior Patrol Leader of forty scouts in Boy Scout Troop 421 out of Fairview Park Ohio. I am a Junior at Fairview High and have attended Fairview Schools my entire life. I am working toward my Eagle Scout rank. It is estimated that only 7% of scou

ts achieve this. I am trying to raise at least $5,500 for my Eagle Scout Project. I will be putting Emergency Lockdown Buckets in the four schools throughout Fairview: The Early Education Center, Gilles Sweet Elementary School, Lewis F. Mayer Middle School, and Fairview High School. The goal of these buckets is to save a life and create a space to use the rest room in a school lockdown situation. This project interests me because of my goal to go into law enforcement or the military for a career and my interest in first aid as well as being a kid in a generation where things like shooting events are becoming more and more common. I have had multiple first aid training including certifications in Stop the Bleed, CPR, and Wilderness First Aid. My goal is to create 143 Emergency Lockdown Buckets. My lockdown buckets have two main purposes. The first is to keep someone alive if they are injured in a violent situation. Supplies such as gauze, bandages, gloves, and self-adhering medical tape will be included to do this job. The second purpose is to create a space for a restroom. The bucket, toilet seat and trash bags create the sanitary space for a student to use the restroom. The students will also need privacy to use this restroom, so I will include a tarp and duct tape to be taped up in the corner of the classroom or wherever possible. Toilet paper, kitty litter and hand sanitizer will also be included to combat smell and to provide sanitation. All of this is important because a lockdown situation can last several hours, this means that students will not be able to leave their classrooms to use the restroom. I hope that these buckets are never needed but they will help the school be prepared and follow the Boy Scout Motto which is “Be Prepared.”

Thanks to Troop 421, Explorer Post 145, friends and family that showed up to help assemble the 143 Emergency Lockdown Buckets for the four Fairview Park Public Schools this morning. These buckets will have medical supplies and act as restroom in emergency situations. It has been a privilege and honor to work with you all and I greatly appreciate the work everyone did today. Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to talk with me and learn about this project and support it over the past eight months.

April 29, Lorain county student brought a loaded gun to school.

The student admitted to having the gun and that she had taken it from her father.

Today marks the anniversary of the Columbine school shooting. 15 students and faculty lost their lives and a further 24 were injured after two students opened fire on the school. It is sad that tragedy’s that continue to happen.

On April 20, 1999, 15 died in the Columbine High School massacre.

Today Tennessee faced an unfortunate tragedy. Austin-East Magnet High School marks the first school shooting of the 2021 year and hopefully the last. I’m sorry for the families of the injured and I hope this does not happen again.

The Knoxville Police Department tweeted that authorities were on the scene of the shooting Monday at Austin-East Magnet High School.
