Perinton Ambulance

Perinton Ambulance This is the official page for Perinton Ambulance, serving the community since 1965!

Responding to calls for service around the clock, we answered over 5,200 requests in 2021. Beyond emergency response, we offer CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed training regularly. As an American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site, we're aligned with Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. Our nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians are available to inspect car seats on a re

gular or by appointment basis. Keep track of our next inspection station times by checking the Events tab regularly! Our loan cupboard offers temporary usage of mobility aids, including canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs. Some items are in heavy demand and are subject to certain restrictions; please call or visit our base to learn of current availability.

61 years ago today, a vision became reality. On September 1, 1965, the Fairport Lions Club launched a community ambulance service; nights and weekends only, fueled by hope and determination. The dream was simple: keep lifesaving care close to home.

Today, our crews stand ready 24/7, answering more than 6,600 calls a year across Perinton and Fairport. What began as part-time volunteer coverage has grown into a team of dedicated EMTs and paramedics, delivering advanced life support to over 52,000 residents and countless visitors.

We’re still here because this community shows up for us, just as we show up for you. Your support is the reason we can keep answering the call. Help us continue this legacy: give today and ensure Perinton Ambulance is here for the next 60 years.

To every person who shared a post, sent a message of support, or showed up for their neighbors this week: THANK YOU!

This community is why we do what we do.

The men and women of Perinton Ambulance are your neighbors. Some of them grew up here, raised families here, and chose careers where they spend nights and weekends responding to the worst moments of people’s lives so those moments have a better outcome.

They are proud of what they do. We are proud of them.

The conversation we've started this week isn't just about money. It's about what kind of community Perinton wants to be. One that invests in its own infrastructure. One that shows up for each other, the way our crews show up when you need them.

6,000+ calls a year. 7-minute response times. Advanced Life Support. Community programs serving thousands of residents.
That's what we've built together. That's what we're fighting to protect.

If you haven't yet, please reach out to the Town of Perinton Board and let them know you stand behind full funding for your ambulance service.

In the meantime, we'll keep showing up. We always have, and hope to continue for many years into the future.

Clinically Focused. Community Driven.

This is the post where we ask something of you.

You've seen the numbers. You understand the gap. Now here's what you can do about it.

The Town of Perinton has the authority to fully fund Perinton Ambulance, and to exceed the New York State property tax cap to do it. But that decision requires community support.

So here’s how you can help, starting now:

1. Contact the Town of Perinton Board. Attend a Town Board meeting and speak during public comment. Write or email your Town Board representatives. Let them know that you support full municipal funding for Perinton Ambulance, and that you support exceeding the tax cap to achieve it if necessary.

2. Share this post. Your neighbors in Perinton and Fairport may not know any of this. Sharing this series is one of the most direct things you can do.

3. Talk about it. At the coffee shop, the school pickup line, the neighborhood Facebook group. Public support signals matter to elected officials.

We’re asking for your voice to join ours in sharing the realities of EMS funding now, and what could happen in the future.
The Town Board needs to hear that this community values its ambulance service and is willing to support the funding decisions that keep it strong.

We've been here for you for more than 60 years. Help us stay for the next 60 years.

We want to be honest with you about what’s at risk without sustainable funding:

Response times. Maintaining a 7-minute average response requires full staffing 24/7. If we can't fund competitive salaries, we lose paramedics and EMTs to other systems. Every open position adds seconds to every response.

Equipment. Two of our ambulances have exceeded their serviceable life. Replacing a single ambulance costs $225,000 or more. Without adequate funding, aging equipment becomes a patient safety issue.

Service levels. Advanced Life Support capability, the tools and medications that change outcomes for cardiac patients and stroke victims, requires trained staff and maintained equipment. Both cost money.

Community programs. Our CPR classes have put life-saving skills in the hands of Perinton residents. Our loan closet helps neighbors who can’t afford a walker or wheelchair. These programs exist because we've found ways to sustain them.

None of this disappears overnight, but erosion is quiet, and then it's sudden.
We have a 7-minute response time right now. The goal of this campaign is to make sure it stays that way in five years.

We don't want to be alarmist, but believe in transparency, because you deserve to know.
