Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition MCSAP & Empower A coalition of caring community members dedicated to preventing & reducing underage substance misuse.

The Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition is funded through a federal grant from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and managed by the Centers for Disease Control. Our coalition is comprised of members from a variety of county wide community sectors, including: Parents, Youth, Law Enforcement, Businesses, Civic & Volunteer Groups; Healthcare Professionals; State &

Local Government; Justice & Corrections; Media; High Risk Sub-populations/Underrepresented Groups; Religious & Spiritual Organizations; Fraternal Groups; School Administration, Teachers, Coaches, & Staff; Youth-Serving Organizations; and Other Organizations Involved in Reducing Substance Abuse. OUR INITIAL GOAL:
To reduce underage alcohol, ma*****na, to***co, and prescription drug abuse in Martin County by using a variety of evidence-based prevention strategies, including but not limited to the following:

- Opportunities for collaboration among various community stakeholders and groups throughout all of Martin County;

- Conducting Youth, Parent, Business, & Community Assessments to gather annual local data on use, attitudes, perceptions of use, and prevention;

- Evidence-based prevention curriculum (Hazelden's "Project Northland" and "Class Action") for youth in grades 6-11 in the school Districts in Martin County.

- Law enforcement efforts aimed at reducing youth access to alcohol (such as Responsible Beverage Server Training and Compliance Checks), Ma*****na and prescription drug misuse.

- Positive Community Norms messaging campaign in the schools & communities in all of Martin County.

- Youth leadership and coalition training events (in and out of state);

- Sponsoring the Empower youth groups (formerly YOCO) for chemical free students (grades 7-12) in Martin County

- Community educational programs, town hall meetings & forums; and

- Alcohol, To***co and Other Drug Free events for youth. PLEASE SUPPORT US in WORKING TOGETHER for the FUTURE of MARTIN COUNTY YOUTH!
