Thanks to donor support, three Fairmont State University students traded the classroom for London this spring – briefing senior executives at BAE Systems on UK critical maritime infrastructure alongside NATO military officers and international graduate students.

From March 6-15, three students, one industry analyst and three faculty members traveled to the United Kingdom to collaborate with the University of Plymouth, culminating in a formal presentation to BAE Systems.

Back-to-back Mountain East Conference champions. An unbeaten 11-0 regular season. A trip to the national semifinals for the first time in over a decade. Fairmont State's Acrobatics & Tumbling team, led by Coach of the Year Danielle Cutri, had a season to remember - and donor support through Day of Giving helped cover everything from championship travel to equipment that rivals Division I programs.

Big news for Fairmont State's College of Business and Aviation!

Fairmont Federal Credit Union has established the Fairmont Federal Credit Union Finance Lab Enhancement Fund, supporting software, technology and educational resources in the newly named Finance Lab, plus a new annual award for a senior finance student.

We celebrated with FFCU leaders, faculty and students at a dedication ceremony this week. Foundation President Marissa Mauro called it "a powerful representation of what's possible when our community partners invest directly in student success."

The Fairmont State Foundation is building serious momentum – $4.6 million raised for Fairmont State University students and programs this year, an 84% increase over last year!

That generosity meant nearly 4,900 gifts, a record-setting Day of Giving, and more than $1.3 million in scholarships going straight to students working toward their degrees.

We're also thrilled to welcome four new members to our Foundation board this year, each bringing incredible experience in business, healthcare, and community leadership.

Molli Taylor once pictured herself in medicine or law. Then a scholarship for future educators changed her path - and her mind. Now in her first year of Fairmont State's education program, she's pursuing a K-12 Special Education certification, leading a campus ministry, and already planning her master's degree, all without the financial stress that comes with it.

Datha and Gene Smith never went to college. All three of their kids did. In 2021, the family turned that legacy into the Datha & Gene Smith Fellows Program, wrapping first-generation Fairmont State students in four years of financial support, mentoring and community - starting with an immersive Bridge Program before classes even begin.

Four years ago, Fairmont State wrestling had fewer than 20 athletes. Today, thanks to head coach Gennaro Bonaventura, the roster is nearing 40, the team just posted a record eight Academic All-Americans, and Bonaventura is stepping into a new role as director of wrestling to launch a women's program - already halfway to its fall roster goal.
