Yesterday evening at approximately 18:26 Fairlee was toned to Bradford for a second alarm structure fire which went 3rd shortly after.
We rolled E6,T3 and Forestry with 6 members. E6 ended up take draft operations at the fill site.
All companies were back in quarters at 21:45

May 4, 2026 is International Firefighters Day.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for the dedication, commitment and sacrifice they provide every day to the people of the Town of Fairlee and our neighboring communities' during times of need.

Today we also remember those brother and sisters that have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

If you want to be apart of this family. The door is always open to add more members.

This weekend 4 of are members took place in different trainings ( Rookie,pumping and short hand operation of a fire scene) through the Twin State mutual aid system.

High fire danger for the whole state. There will be no burn permit in Fairlee till we get some rain. If you see smoke call 911. Fire moves quickly with 6mph winds and 30 % humidity.

HIGH Fire Danger for all of Vermont today. There are special considerations for some areas of the state. From the US National Weather Service Burlington VT:
..Near Critical Fire Weather Conditions are Expected Today...

* AFFECTED AREA...Portions of northern New York and central,
northwest and southern Vermont.

* WINDS...North 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 to 30 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...50 to 60 degrees.

* FUELS...Per coordination with our partners, the recent dry
weather has caused fine dead fuels across the region to dry out.

* IMPACTS...If any fires were to start the weather and fuel
conditions could cause fires to quickly get out of control and
be difficult to contain.

Please use extra caution over the next few days till be get more rain. Even the top leaves and dry grass can burn quickly.

ELEVATED BRUSH FIRE RISK:
Watching the risk for brush fires over the next few days... Near critical fire weather conditions are expected in the broader valleys Thursday. The combination of very dry air and a northerly breeze means any fires that start could easily spread out of control.

Please be careful with any equipment that generates sparks or flames and dispose of ci******es properly!
