From the JIA Foundation 💙

Thank you to our incredible supporters for another year in the books. Because of you, families feel supported, encouraged, and never alone. As we step into a new year, we pray for answers to unsolved diagnoses, continued medical advancements, and innovative treatments for children living with JIA and related conditions.

We are beginning this year in Minnesota for appointments for our own child, while continuing to advocate in new and meaningful ways—learning, listening, and pushing forward with purpose for all JIA families across the country.

We pray for a year filled with healing, strength, progress, and improved health for all of our JIA kiddos and their families. Thank you for standing with us and believing in this mission.

This month holds a very special place in my heart and in my family’s life. As many of you know, this nonprofit was started in honor of my son, who was diagnosed at just three years old with Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA).

In the midst of his diagnosis—and after multiple procedures and surgeries—Maddox became chronically dependent on steroids. Even now, at seven years old, he still relies on them to live. Thankfully, he was started on a biologic that has greatly improved his day-to-day life.

However, Maddox is also severely immune deficient, which has brought a whole new layer of challenges. He is frequently hospitalized due to chronic infections, particularly lung-related ones. Over the years, we’ve faced central lines, PICU, long-term antibiotics, surgeries, procedures, countless ER visits, ambulance rides, multiple seizures and extended hospital stays.

With all of that said, this month is deeply meaningful to us. We proudly honor and celebrate all of the brave children who fight JIA day in and day out. These kids are true warriors, and their strength continues to inspire us EVERY single day.
