Here is an update on the Water Quality of Fairfield Pond, from Kristina Huma, our volunteer water tester,

Water Quality Update

Kristina Bolduc received training by Mark Mitchell, the Lake Assessment and Lay Monitoring Program Coordinator on June 8th when the first of the year's samples were taken from Fairfield Pond. Water samples will be taken roughly every two weeks. Water clarity was 7m with Secchi disk and view tube which was a fantastic reading according to Mark (who did double check it!) Readings will be posted to the website approximately 30 days after the lab processes them. In addition to testing phosphorus levels they are monitoring and testing caffeine levels in lakes across the state. Testing for caffeine as a way to identify septic wastewater levels.

On a side note, No Wake buoys were put into place on both the north and south end of the pond on June 13th.

Spring Phosphorus
Trend: Highly Significantly Decreasing (p-value = 0.0044)

Summer Phosphorus

Summer Secchi

Summer Chlorophyll-a
