A Message to Our Community regarding SVA Lincoln Parkapalooza
We recognize that this year’s community event falls on Rosh Hashanah, an important time of observance for many of our neighbors, friends, and families. We sincerely regret that this conflict will prevent some from joining us, and we fully respect that celebrating this important holiday with family and community comes first.
We also want to clarify that the Stratfield Village Association is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization and registered 501(c)(3). Our event is independently organized and operated by our volunteers. The Town of Fairfield and Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department are not affiliated with our event beyond their continued support of our community-centered initiatives, for which we are grateful. We invite you to visit our website to learn more about our mission and the motivation and spirit that drives every one of our volunteers to donate their time and effort to care for every member of our community.
Our event has long been held on the weekend corresponding with September 11. This timing is rooted in our annual ceremony of remembrance, where we come together with local police, firefighters, and other first responders to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and to recognize the courage and sacrifice of those who responded.
Each year, we make every effort to consider other established community events and observances when selecting our date. However, the longstanding tradition of holding our gathering on this particular weekend can limit our alternatives. Our intention is never to overlook or diminish any religious observance.
Our community is made stronger by the many traditions, faiths, and experiences that our neighbors bring to it. Whether you join us this year or spend Rosh Hashanah with family and loved ones, you are an important part of our community.
We are also always looking to expand our board membership and deeply appreciate the volunteers who give their time, energy, and care to help make our events possible. New voices and helping hands are always welcome as we continue to grow and serve our neighborhood.
We are grateful for your understanding, your friendship, and the spirit of respect and neighborliness that makes Stratfield Village such a special place.
