During Asian Heritage Month, we celebrate the rich cultures and contributions of Asian communities while also acknowledging the barriers many survivors face in seeking help, including stigma, language access, and cultural isolation. Our commitment remains rooted in safety, advocacy, and healing for all survivors.

Last month, we had the honor of standing alongside the cities of Benicia, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Vacaville, and Vallejo as they recognized Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

We want to sincerely thank each of these cities for accepting our request to recognize SAAM and for helping bring visibility to an issue that impacts so many individuals and families throughout our communities.

This work is made stronger through collaboration, and it was meaningful to stand together with SANE-SART, SAVV, VEST, SFJC, and TAFB (FAP and SAPR) in recognition of survivors and the importance of coordinated support.

Every conversation, partnership, and shared effort helps create safer pathways to healing, advocacy, and stability for those impacted by violence. This work was never meant to be done alone, and it shows when a community moves in alignment.

Some of the most important things a mother gives can’t be wrapped, photographed, or explained.

It’s the way she can make a room feel safer just by being in it.

The way she notices when something is wrong before anyone else does.

The voice her children carry with them long after they leave the room.

The way she protects peace, even when carrying so much herself.

The resilience. The way she holds everything together. The lessons repeated so many times they become part of who we are. The sacrifices nobody else saw…

On Mother’s Day and every day, we celebrate the mothers and maternal figures whose love, strength, and presence continue to leave a lasting impact on the lives around them.

Happy Mother’s Day from SafeQuest Solano 💐

Something’s missing…

Many mental health conversations focus on coping strategies, but those strategies are only one part of the picture.

In this image, the bandaids represent coping strategies. They can be helpful in the moment, but when they reused over and over without addressing what’s underneath, they’re being asked to do more than they were designed for.

In the same way that an injury can look minor on the outside while there is more significant damage underneath, what people see is often only the surface. Understanding the full extent of an injury requires deeper assessment, such as imaging, exams, or labwork, and mental health is no different.

When someone has experienced instability or harm, there is often more going on beneath the surface that coping strategies alone can t address. Things like safety, support, stability, and access to resources directly affect how someone thinks, feels, and responds day to day, which is why something temporary or surface-level is only ever going to go so far.

If coping strategies haven’t felt like enough, that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means what you ve been carrying deserves more than a temporary solution. 💚

Let’s talk about it! 📞 866-487-7233

Somewhere along the way, survivors were made to feel like their clothing, their choices, their bodies had to prove something. As if harm needed to be explained. As if violence could be justified.

Denim Day exists because a court once decided that because a survivor’s jeans were tight, she must have helped remove them, and therefore it must have been consent. Can you believe that? But that idea didn’t stay in a courtroom. It shows up in questions, in doubt, in silence. So on Denim Day, we wear denim to reject that thinking... and without apology.

These scarves and beanies didn’t come off a shelf. They were made by hand, one stitch at a time, by our friends at CSP-Solano, who are members of the E.P.I.C. Team (Enhancing Positive Insight Crocheting).

Every piece here was created with intention for survivors. And there’s something meaningful in that. People who are navigating their own circumstances choosing to spend their time making something for others who are also moving through harm, loss, and rebuilding. That kind of care reaches further than we can measure.

We’re deeply grateful to Robert, Rudy, Alberto, Herman, Jeremy, Kevin, Michael, Philip, Rashad, and Ruben for the effort behind this. You can see it in every stitch.

“Together ending violence” is more than a phrase on our banner. Sometimes it looks like this.

And honestly… that’s a pretty strong chain stitch of humanity. 🧶

April has been full in the best way. We’ve had the opportunity to be out in community spaces that remind us how much care and coordination it takes to make connection feel possible.

Thank you to SAVV: Solano Advocates for Victims of Violence for the Easter Egg Hunt and Awareness Event in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. It was meaningful to see families show up and engage in something that holds both awareness and connection.

Thank you to Travis Air Force Base team for hosting the Family Fun Fest and creating an opportunity for families to connect with one another and with local resources. We enjoyed crafting paper airplanes with our tiny booth visitors.

Thank you to Lauren Keltz and the team behind the Vallejo Community Giveback Celebration for bringing together community members, small businesses, and service providers. We had a blast!

Thank you to the California State University Maritime Academy - Cal Maritime campus for hosting a Sexual Assault Awareness Month event centered on self-care for survivors. Students created their own self-care bags, connected with campus resources, and spent time in a space that made room for both care and conversation.

Thank you to the Solano County District Attorney's Office for hosting the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week recognition event. We were there in support of every story shared, and to stand alongside our partners Tanya, Executive Director of Victims Empowerment Support Team VEST, and Rosa, Lead Family Advocacy Specialist with Solano Advocates for Victims of Violence, whose keynotes reflected what advocacy truly means.

Thank you to the City of Fairfield, CA - Government, the organizers of the Fairfield Homeless Roundtable, for continuing to convene providers and share timely updates that inform how we serve.

And thank you to SANE SART and the Solano County District Attorney’s for hosting the Fueling the Frontline breakfast. It was an opportunity to connect with fellow providers, investigators, and partners, and to take a moment to recognize the work being done to support survivors across our community.

We’re grateful to be in it with you! 🫶

We’re sharing a message from our Board President as SafeQuest Solano navigates a moment that directly impacts our ability to support survivors in this community. In this video, she shares where things stand right now and what is shaping what comes next.

The work continues. The need continues. What is changing is the capacity to meet it.

We invite you to watch. 💜

For 50 years, SafeQuest Solano has been the bridge between a person’s hardest night and their first safe morning. We have stood firm through every shift in our community, holding space for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault when they had nowhere else to turn.

Right now, that bridge is at a breaking point.

We are facing a reality that is difficult to speak aloud: the gap between the rising need for our services and the resources available has reached a point that requires immediate community action. To keep pace with the level of crisis support our community deserve, we must strengthen our financial foundation right now. This isn't just a request for a donation. It is a defining moment for our county. We are asking you to help us protect the future of advocacy, shelter, and healing in our own backyard.

Solano has always looked out for its own. Today, we need that spirit more than ever. Every contribution is a direct investment in keeping these vital services thriving for those who need them most.

Please contribute to our GoFundMe here: https://gofund.me/c84bfe783 or scan the QR code on the flyer to help us ensure the next 50 years of safety.

Every dollar strengthens our reach. Every share spreads the word.
