CyberDyne FALCO + ACE FALCO of Solano Community College

CyberDyne FALCO + ACE FALCO of Solano Community College Welcome to CyberDyne, Solano Community College's only STEM/CTE Hybrid Student Club. The three languages are: Visual Basic (VB), C++, and Python. Lutz.

CyberDyne is the eighth of The Science.Technology.Engineering.Mathematics (STEM) Clubs, however, we are also the sixth Career-Technical Education (CTE) Club, making CyberDyne the first STEM-CTE Hybrid Club. We do workshops from 3 fields, two of them are based on two programs we have at the college: Computer Science and Mechatronics and the third one is combination of the first two which is Robotic

s. Workshop Series #1: Computer Programming
In our Computer Science Workshops (marked COMP-WK), you will learn how to use a computer (a side-yay for those who would like to learn how to use a computer). But really these workshops are on Computer Programming, and they'll be able to learn a total of 3 Programming Languages here and then two variants in Series 3. COMP-WK Series is based on: CIS 001, CIS 015, and CIS 022. Workshop Series #2: Mechatronics
In our Mechatronics Workshops (marked MECHA-WK) you will learn about basic Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, and a tiny bit of how house wiring works. Here you will learn how to build circuits from scratch to prototype them, solder them together, and one day etch them to a permanent circuit. You will also be learning what each component does, and possible applications to each part as there will be a mini-project after every 4 workshops. Just a heads up, this workshop series is heavily immersed in the Technician World, which is easier, and shares some concepts with the Engineering World, just no Calculus, but a little bit of Trigonometry. Just remember that not everything will be the same when you enter Engineering World, which is explained below. MECHA-WK Series is based on: MT 120, MT 122, some bits of MT 142, and MT 140. Special Note on The Mechatronics Series for STEM Majors + A Story:

STEM Majors who are taking high-level maths can benefit from this workshop series. This is because you will have learned an application to one math, and can now have a better understanding of why math is important, what it can do, and more clear understanding of how it all comes together. Through the Technician World, most things can be explained, but eventually there will be a wall that can’t exactly be avoided in the extent of the question “Why exactly does this happen?” so what can we do….umm...nothing as CyberDyne, but maybe through a co-op with our fellow STEM and CTE Clubs, sure. But what can you do? Try out the Engineering World! G.Prez Geff’s Story:
Adventures of A Technician in The Engineering World
If you’re good at math, and while CyberDyne is drawing concepts from The Technician World via Mechatronics, we do encourage Students to challenge themselves by taking on the Physics and Engineering Series. I myself suck at math...yeah I said it. At first, yes, Calculus and Physics are scary, but even if math isn’t your strong point, you can survive in the Engineering World just by concept, but be sure you understand why the math behaves the way it does, and remember to get help to improve and solidify your math weakness(es). If you have the experience in a trade of some kind, whether it be Welding, Electronics (or Mechatronics), Auto Mechanics, Woodworking, Drafting, etc.; it will allow you to understand why everything you learned in your trade does what it does because the Engineering World explains why. For those of you who love electronics, please do fight your way through the Calculus Series and take on Physics 007 (PHYS 007). We have an excellent instructor who teaches Physics 007 and that is Dr. Melanie P. She’s tough, but you will learn so much, and even though the first few weeks of Physics 6 will feel like you’re going to die, once you get that Engineer’s Intuition at solving the HW Problems, you’re set and you will enjoy her classes in the end! ^ ^

(For our members who are gamers or are members of Gamers’ Club 4α reading this, think of the road to the Engineering Series as Classic MegaMan or MegaMan X, the pathways kind of remind me of Dr. Wily’s/Sigma’s Castles: One intense boss fight after another, and you still fight on to beat this game even though your Energy is Low, and you got only one last E-Tank/Subtank left)

When you enter the Electronics (or ElectroMagnetism as it’s called there) part of The Engineering World (PHYS 007), all you will need to do is learn the new theory and the new thinking process (If you took and passed Dr. Lutz’s Physics 006, and have taken the electronics classes in the Mechatronics Program; or at least attended The Mechatronics Workshop Series here at CyberDyne while taking Dr. Lutz's Physics 006 class, you should be fine), some of the concepts you will have learned here at CyberDyne will be the same, but others have drastically changed, or just approached differently to see their origins and why they are that way, by comprehending where did they come from. It will be crucial that you learn the new ones over there once you get that far. Workshop Series #3: Welcome to Robotics
Finally, we bring the two Workshop Series together to teach everyone a new field: Robotics (marked ROBOTO-WK) in where you will be able to create a circuit and connect it to a MicroComputer or MicroController to control the circuit by programming it. Remember those variants languages mentioned earlier? They're used here, which they are Arduino C, a variant of the C Language that C++ came from; and PIC-BASIC a granddad to Visual Basic. Also, you will be learning about the most powerful OS in existence: LINUX, and the what's the true difference of Windows and MAC Vs. Linux, plus their History in the first Series 3 Workshop. ROBOTO-WK Series is based on: CIS 52 and CIS 55, with some bits of MT 132, MT 142, and a little bit on MT 164. If you can't make the workshops in person, don't panic! We'll have videos on the workshops coming soon, so you'll be able to join us virtually. We hope to see you soon!

If you're majoring in Computer Science or Computer Engineering at Solano CC, and are planning to transfer to CSU Sacramento (aka SacState), come check out CyberDyne VESPA + ACE VESPA, a larger CyberDyne created when our Guardian President and Founder transferred over there! Their Discord Server has support lines for not only Computer Science and Computer Engineering, but Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, and Civil Engineerings! They also have support for Construction Management and Management Information Systems (MIS)! Plus, like our server, they have jump points to other Engineering and Computer Science Clubs, as well as several hangout sectors! :D

CyberDyne VESPA is an extension of CyberDyne FALCO, the original STEM-CTE Hybrid Club at Solano CC.
