MEMBER SPOTLIGHT…
Janet Birdsall

We are excited to shine the spotlight on one of our wonderful, always willing, Fairfield History Club members!

She joined FHC after being invited by Lisa Baggerly and Doris Sneed. After attending her first meeting, and quickly realizing that this was a group she wanted to be part of she joined in 2023.

One of the things she admires most about FHC is the Moody-Bradley House and the incredible history it holds. She also treasures the wonderful ladies of the club and the friendships she has made through meetings, events, and time spent together.

Her first FHC event was Games Day, where she enjoyed serving the ladies in attendance. Because it was her very first event, it remains one of her most memorable—and a wonderful introduction to what FHC is all about!

Rather than encouraging someone to join, she has a simple invitation:

“Come to a meeting and see what the club has going on!”

We are so glad she accepted that first invitation and became part of our FHC family! ❤️

For GFWC International Day of Service this year the Fairfield History Club chose the project “Bags of Hope”. The bags contain essential items that can provide immediate support to high school students experiencing a crisis and help needs that might otherwise go unmet. These bags were given to the counselors at Faifield, Teague and Wortham.

Meet our Club Treasurer
Pam Windham
I have been a club member since 2012, 14 years. Spring 2012 I was invited to attend a luncheon at the Moody Bradley House for prospective new members. Needless to say, I was all in.

My favorite thing about being a club member is working with club women to make a positive impact on our community.

My favorite club memory isn't actually my memory; it is the story of the ladies who started our club. The first meeting and for some time after was held in a Ladies Room at the Freestone County Courthouse. I can just imagine the ladies walking into the Ladies Room carrying refreshments and chairs for all the members to sit in.

My favorite club event to be a part of was our 100th Anniversary Gala in October 2025. The preparation for the event allowed me to have a better understanding of the impact our organization has had in our community as I reviewed the list of Scholarship Recipients, thumbed through the past cookbooks and scrapbooks.

Something that people might be surprised to learn about me.........Everyone who knows me probably knows that I am the youngest of 4 siblings, probably not everyone knows that my Dad served in the Army and he was being sent to Viet Nam at the time I was due to be born. He actually had to leave the day before I was born, I didn't meet him until shortly before my first birthday.

To me, Fairfield History Club means being part of a sisterhood who works together to better our community and the lives of our neighbors.

To someone who is considering joining Fairfield History Club I would say, come be our guest at a monthly meeting. We would love to share our mission with you along wiht some refreshments and fellowship.

Another new member spotlight!
Meet Sophie Ridge!!

We are excited to introduce another wonderful addition to the Fairfield History Club!

Her first introduction to FHC came through her work with Lott Physical Therapy, when she helped present at the club’s November meeting in 2025. She was able to see firsthand what a wholesome, helpful, and caring group of women our club is—and knew right away that it was something she wanted to be part of. Lott Physical Therapy was also a sponsor of our 100th Anniversary Gala.

One of her favorite experiences so far has simply been getting to know more of our members. She especially enjoyed our last 2025–2026 meeting, where she had the opportunity to visit, connect, and learn more about the women who make FHC so special.

As someone who is still relatively new to the community, she is looking forward to contributing her skills to upcoming events while becoming more involved and building new friendships.

And now for a few fun facts! 🎶 She is originally from London, England, plays the drums, and holds a degree in Event and Festival Management. We think those talents are going to be a wonderful addition to our club!

Her advice to anyone considering joining FHC?

“Do it! You never know what might happen, but one thing for certain is that you’ll meet a lot of incredible people.” ❤️

We are so happy to have her as part of our FHC family as we continue Turning the Page together! 📖

A huge thank you to everyone that supported the raffle for the Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License!! We had the drawing at the Show of Wheels today! This money raised will help the Moody-Bradley House!

Our President, Lisa Baggerly, and President-elect, Terri Pryor Patterson participated in the Teague ISD Remembrance Walk for 911!

It was announced over the PA system - what is 911? What happened during this time?
8:46 - the First Tower was hit - everyone starts walking
Patriot Music played over the PA system
9:03 Announced that the Second Tower was hit - continue walking

Patriot Music was played
9:59 Announced that the Second Towers fell - head inside
A final announcement was made at 10:28 when the first tower fell.

The point was to show the kids how long it was between the planes hitting and then the buildings falling and to remember those who lost their lives - people who were inside the buildings for work or any other reason and emergency responders who were doing their best to save as many as possible.

Another member spotlight!
Meet Leigh Miller

We are excited to shine the spotlight on another one of our Fairfield History Club members!

Her love of history runs deep. While attending the University of Texas, where she earned her BA in History, she worked as a tour guide at the Governor’s Mansion and State Capitol. Her passion for history and historic preservation made FHC a natural fit—and, of course, she was impressed by the wonderful women in the club, too!

She is also a docent at the Moody-Bradley House when Terri Patterson is not able to be there.

She first heard about FHC when Diane Pullin invited her to join, and we are so glad she did!

Her favorite experiences so far have been our 100th Anniversary celebrations, including the Lawn Party and Gala. She says they were both impressive and so much fun!

Looking ahead, she is excited to attend a Trinity District event and become even more involved with FHC.

Here’s a fun fact: she is the 5th generation of her family to live in Freestone County—it just took her 30 years to get here full time! And thanks to a little genealogy research encouraged by Brad Pullin, she discovered that Sam Houston is her 1st cousin, five times removed! 🤠

When asked what she would say to someone thinking about joining the Fairfield History Club, her answer says it all:

“Just do it!!” ❤️
