Join us next Tuesday, June 9 for our next Action Team Meeting!

We’ll be joined by our community partner, Newtown Action Alliance this month! NAA advocates at both the state and federal levels for policies that reduce gun violence and leads impactful public education campaigns across the country. We’re honored to stand alongside them in this work here in Connecticut.

We’ll also be sharing ways to get involved at the many community events we’ll be attending throughout June, and sharing a sneak peek at what’s ahead for CAGV this fall.

Earlier this month, we stood alongside Senator Richard Blumenthal and Moms Demand Action - CT to call for an end to the targeted marketing of lethal weapons to children.

CAGV’s Director of Advocacy, Policy & Outreach, Stacey Mayer, spoke out against the advertising of assault-style weapons to young audiences, lifting up powerful insights previously shared by Attorney Josh Koskoff during our Spring Benefit the evening before.

Children should never be the target of marketing for weapons designed to cause harm. Our advocacy continues.

A major step forward for gun violence prevention in Connecticut.

The Connecticut Senate passed legislation to ban “convertible pistols” and close dangerous loopholes that allow fi****ms to be easily turned into machine guns using devices commonly known as G***k switches. This progress reflects years of advocacy, organizing, and community action from people across our state who continue to demand safer communities and stronger gun laws.

On Wednesday, Governor Lamont signed House Bill 5043 into law, marking another important step toward reducing gun violence in Connecticut.

Now enacted as Public Act 26-41, the law makes it a felony to import or sell newly manufactured convertible pistols beginning October 1, 2026. These fi****ms can be modified to fire fully automatically through the use of a converter or “switch,” commonly known as a G***k switch.

This legislation reflects the ongoing work of advocates, lawmakers, survivors, and communities across our state who continue pushing for policies that prioritize safety and save lives. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this progress possible.
