Many of you have already heard that our beloved Bookkeeper & Membership Secretary, Pam Berkaw, has announced her retirement. We are looking forward to celebrating Pam's 35-year career with Farm Bureau in the coming months.

In the meantime, we are beginning our search for Pam's replacement. We have officially posted the position and are seeking applications. This is a full-time position, with great group insurance benefits, paid time off, and retirement.

The application deadline is October 29, 2026.

We will be conducting interviews in November. Candidates will be asked to complete an accounting/bookkeeping exam as part of the interview process.

🚨TAKE ACTION: Protect American Beef Production 🚨

Illinois Farm Bureau and Illinois Beef Association are asking you to urge Congress and the White House to protect American beef production.

An additional 660 million pounds of foreign beef is set to enter the U.S. over just 90 days at prices 25% below market value, undercutting producers.

Now is not the time. Farmers need long-term market stability, allowing producers to rebuild the U.S. cattle herd, increase American beef production and ensure consumers have access to a safe, abundant and affordable food supply.

We would like to thank the Wayne City FFA Chapter for hosting their annual Field Day event. The Field Day included over 200 FFA students from chapters in four different counties who rotated through 10 different career stations. Students also heard from local organizations about opportunities for the students during and after high school. The Wayne County Farm Bureau was pleased to help the students beat the 100-degree temperatures with some homemade ice cream. We would like to thank volunteers David White, Ted Hughes, our Manager Doug Anderson, and the Wayne City FFA officer team for assisting us with the ice cream.

The Wayne County Farm Bureau, in partnership with the Illinois Farm Bureau and Wabash Valley Service Company, held its annual Nutrient Loss Inhibitor Demonstration Plot Field Day on August 20th. The event was held at the Fred Blessing Farm north of Fairfield. Farmers heard from Dr. Sanjay Sofet, IFB's Director of Environmental Policy; John Pike, who reviewed his NREC nitrogen research; Mike Wilson and Jay Tharp, who reviewed the treatments in this year's NLID plot; and a keynote presentation by BAM Weather's CEO, Michael Clark.

The Wayne County Farm Bureau would like to thank the Illinois Farm Bureau for their nutrient stewardship grant support for this project. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the team at Wabash Valley Service Company for providing their agronomic expertise for the plot.

We are looking forward to the harvest of the plot and sharing the final ROI data for the treatments. The data and field day presentations will be posted on our plot website at www.waynecfb.com/nlid.

The Wayne County Farm Bureau is pleased to present the Western Wayne Little League with a 2026 Community Impact Grant for $500.00. The Wayne County Farm Bureau is pleased to present 41st Ministries with a 2026 Community Impact Grant for $1,500.00. The grant was used for their Back-to-School Give-a-Way program, where children received a backpack, school supplies, a haircut (if needed), clothes, a meal, a back-to-school photo, and more. The Wayne County Farm Bureau is pleased to present The Sharing Shed in Fairfield with a 2026 Community Impact Grant for $500.00. The Sharing Shed provides food and essential items for people in need.
