Vet First Inc. Williamsburg W**ery is at it again! Our cover crop of oats and buckwheat are coming in nicely. Our small hoop house (not pictured) is pumping out cucumbers, eggplant, bell peppers, beets, kale, tarragon, basil, chives, rosemary, thyme and sage! Rainbow chard is on the way as we usher in fall. Come on out and see us!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us last evening to support Vet First Inc.. It was a wonderful night around the table, enjoying a farm-to-table dinner prepared by Chef Bergeron of The Williamsburg W**ery.

We’re especially grateful to our farm manager, Jason, who grew the fresh organic produce featured in the meal and shared the work happening in our veterans garden—from donations to our local food bank and our CSA program to plans for the seasons ahead. We also had the chance to share the launch of our free agricultural education program for veterans and their spouses.

Thank you for being part of this community and helping us continue to grow, give back, and support those who have served.

A special shout out to our neighbors Emily of Razzbourne Farms and their amazing chèvre that we used in our heirloom tomato salad.

Ready for your next mission?

Join Vet First, Inc. on September 30 from 4:00–5:30 PM at the W**e Pavilion at The Williamsburg W**ery for a FREE recruitment and engagement event for veterans and military spouses interested in agriculture, farming, and building a sustainable future.
This event will be held in conjunction with the Historic Virginia Land Conservancy (HVLC), which will be hosting its own event at the same time and location. Together, these events provide an opportunity to learn more about agriculture, land conservation, and smart community growth.

Vet First will be sharing information about its Veteran Farm-to-Table Program, beginning October 5, and how participants can turn an interest in farming and agriculture into a practical plan for success.

🍷 Harvest Dinner at the Vineyard | Supporting Vet First, Inc.

Join us at Ecco Adesso Vineyards for an unforgettable Harvest Dinner in the Vineyard—an elegant evening celebrating the harvest, local agriculture, Virginia w**e, and the mission of Vet First, Inc.

Chef Chad Bergeron of The Williamsburg W**ery will prepare a special four-course farm-to-table dinner, featuring locally grown produce harvested from Vet First’s nonprofit veterans garden.

The first three courses will be thoughtfully paired with Ecco Adesso Vineyards w**es, followed by a special dessert course to complete the evening.

Throughout the dinner, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about Vet First and its work using sustainable agriculture to support U.S. veterans while helping address food insecurity in our local communities.

Harvest season is underway at our Vet First veterans farm garden in Rockbridge County, Virginia!

These beautiful pumpkins and squash are just part of what’s coming out of the garden this season. We’re incredibly thankful for the hard work and dedication of our veteran farmers and volunteers who make each harvest possible — growing fresh food while giving back to our local community. 🌱

Every seed planted and every harvest gathered helps further our mission of connecting veterans, agriculture and food security here in Virginia.

Vet First Inc. is HIRING! We are seeking a full-time Farm Manager at our farm located at the historic Williamsburg W**ery in Williamsburg, VA. If you or someone you know is a U.S. Veteran Farmer with experience maintaining and managing land and livestock, planting, growing and harvesting fruits and vegetables, possesses market farming skills, and has experience with tractors (sub soiling, cultivating, tilling, plowing, etc.), then we are interested to connect.
