Today was one of those days that reminded us just how important our Freestone County volunteer fire departments are.

We want to take a moment today to thank all of the volunteer firefighters who answered the call and came out to assist Fairfield EMS during several stressful and challenging situations.

When things get difficult, having another set of hands, another team ready to step in, and people willing to put themselves in the middle of a stressful situation makes all the difference.

You didn’t have to be there — but you showed up.

From assisting with patients and helping crews on scene to providing manpower, support, and scene safety, your help today was greatly appreciated by every member of the Fairfield EMS crew.

To every volunteer firefighter who responded today: THANK YOU.

Great news for Freestone county and the great State of Texas, we will not need to utilize the heater this 4th of July holiday. However, the real threat is heat and lack of hydration. Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

At Fairfield EMS, we believe that going above and beyond deserves to be recognized.

A Challenge Coin isn’t just a coin—it’s a symbol of dedication, teamwork, and selfless service. It’s presented to individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment and make a positive impact on those around them.

Recently, Matt and Robin exemplified exactly what that means. On several occasions over the past two months, they willingly took calls before their shifts even began. Because of their willingness to step up without hesitation, fellow crew members who had spent the night running 911 calls and transfers were able to get off on time and get the rest they needed.

Acts like these may seem small to some, but they make a tremendous difference to coworkers and to the service we provide our community. Their teamwork, professionalism, and readiness to help embody the values we strive for every day.
