We are honored to announce Caleb Parish as our latest scholarship awardee through the Ashton Rae Woods Foundation.

At 22 years old, Caleb is already serving in full-time ministry and traveling to share the Gospel through evangelistic ministry. Growing up in a pastor’s home, ministry has always been a part of his life, but at 19 he stepped into vocational ministry as a youth pastor before feeling led by the Lord into evangelism and missions.

This upcoming missions trip will include hosting kids crusades, youth services, ministering in local churches, and participating in food outreaches to serve communities and share the love of Jesus. After experiencing his first international missions trip last year, Caleb shared that it stirred his heart to continue mission work both at home and abroad.

We are grateful to play a small part in supporting the calling God has placed on his life and can’t wait to see the impact this trip will make. 💕

We’re proud to announce Alisha as our first 2026 scholarship recipient for her mission trip to Macedonia. ✨

This will be Alisha’s third year serving alongside the Lighthouse of Hope Foundation, partnering with a therapy center that cares for orphaned children with special needs. As a pediatric nurse, her heart for children and passion for serving others shines through in this incredible work.

This year, she’ll help support a children’s camp by bringing much-needed supplies like craft materials, shoes, clothing, and other essentials for the children they serve.

We are so proud to support Alisha’s mission and grateful for the impact she is making in the lives of these precious children. Congratulations, Alisha, on being our first 2026 awardee — we can’t wait to see all that God does through this journey. 💗

April is now officially Distracted Driving Awareness Month in Arkansas 🚘

Thank you to State Representative Ashley Hudson and State Senator Ricky Hill for your bipartisan efforts to get Ashton & Abbie’s Law signed by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Together, we are making the roads safer for Arkansans.

This week I joined Lily Grace Overholser, Miss Greater Little Rock’s Teen, and some of my House colleagues, to mark a proclamation from Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders commemorating April as Distracted Driving Month. After losing her mom to a drunk driver, Lily Grace has become a powerful advocate for safe driving.

In early 2024, Governor Sanders signed Act 445, Ashton and Abbie’s Law. I developed this law to create stronger penalties for distracted drivers who cause serious injury or death.

I was moved to act after a dear friend of our family, Jim Woods, lost his daughter Ashton in 2022 to a distracted driver. Her family was steadfast in their commitment to making sure Ashton could still make a difference, and I was determined to help in any way I could.

As the bill moved through the House and Senate, Senator Ricky Hill reached out about collaborating and shared the story of another family who lost their young daughter, Abbie Cooley, in a distracted driving accident. We chose to honor her memory in the bill's title as well. Her mother, Chandler Sullivan, has also embodied incredible strength and determination to honor Abbie’s memory.

Ashton & Abbie's law strengthens accountability and reflects our shared responsibility to protect lives on our roads. I am grateful to Governor Sanders for acknowledging this important issue, and to my colleagues in the legislature for joining me in this important and ongoing work.
