🧵🌿 Tatreez + Natural Dyeing at Woven History
Join Kana’an Collective and Abuelita Fiber Company for a hands-on afternoon exploring the connection between fiber, color, and Palestinian embroidery.
We’ll start with a beginner tatreez workshop, where you’ll learn about the history and significance of tatreez and create your own piece using traditional Palestinian embroidery techniques.
Then, we’ll get a little messy.
Abuelita Fiber Company will guide us through natural thread dyeing, using locally sourced materials. You’ll learn more about where our fibers come from, how natural dyes create color, and the process of transforming plain thread into something completely your own.
You’ll come away with:
🧵 A beginner tatreez kit with everything you need to complete your project
🌿 Two wooden spools of naturally dyed sashiko thread to add to your fiber collection
✨ A new appreciation for the process behind the fibers and threads we work with.
No previous embroidery or dyeing experience is needed. Just come ready to learn, stitch, experiment, and leave with something you made yourself.
