Get the word out!

The City of Fairfax has canceled the Independence Day Parade due to extreme heat. Our top priority is the safety of attendees and city staff working the event.

The Evening Show will start at 8 p.m., with gates opening at 7:30 p.m. Evening Show shuttle service begins at 7 p.m. from George Mason University’s Rappahannock River Parking Deck and Woodson High School. Fireworks are scheduled for approx. 9:30 p.m.

The Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center’s open house and lawn party has also been canceled.

Board Member Mitch Sutterfield led the June edition of the Historic Fairfax City Walking tour today! It was a warm day, but turnout was great with 15 people attending.

The Historic Fairfax Walking Tour features stories from the 1700’s up to the present day, and highlights many of the buildings in our National Historic District, including the landmark Historic Fairfax County Courthouse and Jail, the Truro Rectory, the Moore-McCandlish house, the Ford Building, and Old Town Hall. We also bring context to our 20th Century commercial buildings along main street.

If you would like to join us, our upcoming tours will be on the last Saturday of July through October at 11 AM. We meet at the Historic Fairfax County Courthouse.

Historic Blenheim will be closed June 29 - July 8. The city is renovating the lobby of the modern Civil War Interpretive Center building. The grounds remain open, including goat viewing, and house tours will resume after renovations are completed.

Join us this Sunday, May 3 at the Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts festival for a walking tour of Historic Old Town Fairfax! We will meet at the Mobius Records parking lot at 11 AM. The tour will last about 1 hour.
