Last week SHC students and staff visited their local fire & rescue stations. We learned how these important community resources operate and saw the equipment and tools they use in their work. The best part was meeting the great people who are dedicated to our safety!

This week SHC joined a peer sharing gathering at Mixt Food Hall with other PGCMLS Language Program Partners, sharing ways to enhance our language programs and learning from each other's challenges and solutions! Prince George's County Memorial Library System

In April SHC joined Sound Impact and The Clarice at GMU to present on a collaborative project to encourage SHC families to tell their stories through music and verse with artists from Sound Impact.

SHC created a pantry where families who visit our office can 'shop' for non perishable items, including personal hygiene and period products, pantry staples, and home cleaning items. Generous support from Immanual Presbyterian Church will allow the pantry to be fully stocked for the rest of 2026! Thanks to our friends and partner orgnaization SAMU First Response we now also have baby blankets and baby care items for moms to take home. SHC participated in the Judy Hoyer Early Learning Hubs school readiness fair at the Hyattsville Library Branch this week. We met with fellow JCELH partners and new families excited to learn English with us next school year.
