Today is the 14th anniversary of the death of Manute Bol. This was the "Reconciliation Forum" in Washington, DC in 2009, and right after Manute confronted Gorbachev on Russia selling fighter planes to Omer Al-Bashir if Sudan. To the right is former National Security Advisor, the late Bud McFarlane, who gave the first three classrooms to the Manute Bol School in Turalei, South Sudan.

1991 Pochalla, south Sudan. The Lost Boys had escaped Ethiopia, and now were surrounded by the Sudanese army that wanted to starve them so they would not grow up to be soldiers. Manute wept when he walked through the crowd of malnourished boys. Within a day the UN air dropped food, and not much later they made their way to Kenya to the Kakuma refugee camp. What Lost Boys who are reading this were there when Manute came? Would you agree that he saved your life?
