Next Reflex Dance Collective, founded in 2006, is a Virginia based modern dance company focusing on collaboration and experimentation. NRDC collaborates with artists of all disciplines while supporting the creation of experimental dance work. This concept is the foundation of our work. As choreographers, our interests lie in each collaborator artistically contributing to the overall work. Allowing
each collaborator/artist to have a voice, generates a larger pool of innovative concepts and ideas. Collaborating artists have included and can include dancers from all disciplines, actors, musicians, visual & graphic artists, lighting designers, sound technicians, and photographers. As a truly experimental dance company, we also collaborate within the community to create dance. Our creations have derived from our experiences with healthcare facilities, womens’ shelters, athletes and from the natural environment resulting in site specific work. In addition to creating experimental works, NRDC generates opportunities in performance, education, and production for the local dance scene. It is NRDC’s mission to increase visibility of the performing arts in the Washington, DC community and this is made a reality through producing relevant and cutting edge performances, developing creative and effective school programing, and through inclusion of diverse local artists in each production. NRDC makes every effort to be a resource for local artists through involvement in specific performance and outreach projects.
