Marin County Bicycle Coalition Our mission is to create a healthy, connected, and sustainable Marin by promoting bicycling for everyday transportation and recreation.

Founded in 1998, Marin County Bicycle Coalition (MCBC) advances the common good of cycling for a better Marin. We envision a Marin where biking is the safest, easiest, and most accessible way to get around – whether for commuting, recreation, or connecting with others. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, we’re building a future with well-designed bike infrastructure, accessible trails,

and safer streets for everyone – creating a healthier, more vibrant community. How we give cyclists a voice:
Advocacy brings cyclists’ collective voice to life. We advocate vigorously for increased bicycle and pedestrian funding, interconnected routes, and policies to enable a great ride. We are always looking forward, working to build a bike-friendly Marin. Educate the Next Generation
Confidence leads to a great experience on the bike. We help build new rider confidence through safety and skills education- from classes teaching parents how to share the joy of cycling with their children, to programs demonstrating the benefits of green transportation. Build the Cycling Community
Every new cyclist is a power for good. We provide the opportunities and environment to support Marin’s diverse cycling community. Our network of events is a central hub for cyclists of all ages and skill levels to connect, learn, ride, and have fun.

After five and a half years with MCBC, our Director of Policy and Planning, Warren Wells, is moving on to his next chapter.

Warren’s impact reaches far beyond MCBC. Over the years, he has become an invaluable part of the statewide bicycle advocacy movement. His thoughtful approach, deep knowledge, and commitment to making Marin a better place to bike have strengthened our organization and our work in countless ways.

We’ve learned so much from Warren, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything he has brought to MCBC during his tenure. While we’re sad to see him go, we’re excited to see him bring his talents to his new role as a transportation planner with a firm in the East Bay, continuing his work toward better transportation in the Bay Area.

Nearly one-third of people in the U.S. don’t drive. Yet many of our communities are designed around cars, making everyday travel difficult for people who rely on walking, biking, public transit or assistance from others.

Every child deserves the chance to ride.

Through Cory’s Ride, MCBC provides bikes, helmets and gear to students who otherwise wouldn’t have a bike of their own. We also teach thousands of Marin students each year to ride safely and confidently.

Now, we need your help to keep these programs rolling. Our trailers have reached the end of their useful lives, and we’re raising $30,000 by the end of September to replace them.

Over 200 riders set out this past Saturday to ride Dirt Fondo, and there were plenty of smiles from folks from start to finish!

Marin County Open Space District is considering a policy change that would allow Class 1 e-bikes (pedal-assist only, no throttle) on fire roads and trails already open to conventional bicycles.

MCBC supports this proposal because it would expand access for older adults, people with physical limitations and others who rely on pedal-assist bikes to enjoy Marin's public lands, while keeping the current ban on Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes.
