15 June 2026

To All IABTI Region VI Members and Vendors,
I regret to inform you that the IABTI Region VI Training Event scheduled for August 31 – September 4, 2026, has been cancelled.
Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, the previously secured training venue at the Old West Rock Paper Mill was recently sold to a new engineering firm. We were notified that the property will close beginning June 1, 2026, as demolition operations are now scheduled to begin immediately rather than in 2027 as originally anticipated.
Since receiving this notice, we have made every effort to identify an alternate venue within the greater Charleston area capable of meeting the logistical and operational requirements necessary for this event. Unfortunately, none of the available locations could adequately accommodate the scope of training planned, including attendee and vehicle capacity, vendor support requirements, robotics operations, and the use of explosive-driven water tools beyond PAN disruptors, while remaining financially practical.
Given the limited timeframe and the extensive logistical challenges involved in relocating the event, the decision was made to cancel this year’s training conference rather than compromise the quality and safety of the training experience.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause to our members, instructors, and vendor partners. Your continued support of Region VI training efforts is greatly appreciated.
Planning efforts are already underway to revisit and hopefully host this event in 2027 under better circumstances. Additional information will be shared as future opportunities develop.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of IABTI Region VI. Please contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns.

Very Respectfully,

Austin Wilbanks
South Carolina IABTI State Director
