Hearing reflections from Fairfax Independence Day Parades from former City Council Member Ellie Schmidt - who spent more than 30 years as a volunteer making it happen. She was recognized in 2008 as the parade’s Honorary Grand Marshall while our club’s own Hubert Delaney was so honored in 1992.

As we celebrated the end of the Lion’s Year we saw Vice District Gov. Greg present Lion Jeff with the International Leaders Medal on behalf of Lion’s Clubs International, Lion Joe recognized as a Melvin Jones Fellow by Past Council Chair Bill, and the transition from King Lion Gary (now Immediate Past Pres. Gary) to King Lion Jim. As the cherry on top: new King Lion Jim was also recognized as the Fairfax Lion of the Year. What a great evening of celebration!

You'll be part of a pride of proud Lions hearing about all the ways we can celebrate in our community as the nation has its biggest birthday yet.

1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Fairfax American Legion Hall - social at 6:30, dinner at 7:00.

Fairfax Lions have a great things lined up for our next series of meetings:
June 2 - a representative from Fairfax250 to talk about celebrations in our area during the national observance of America's big birthday.
June 16 - welcoming our new Board and leadership as we kick off the new Lion's year.
July 4 - volunteering at our Independence Day Parade booth selling hot dogs and cold beverages.
July 7 - a presentation from the City of Fairfax Government Historic Resources team to discuss the City's 250th celebrations as well as resources like the Fairfax Museum and Blenheim Estate.
These are great opportunities to meet the Lions or to join us in serving the community.
We look forward to seeing you during this exciting summer.

Wow! An incredible 75th Anniversary Charter Night Gala featuring Past International President Douglas X. Alexander - who swore in our new officers and recognized some of our longtime leaders. Topped off with a donation to the Inova Lions Eye Clinic to purchase a new laser iridex system to treat glaucoma patients. We Celebrate and We Serve!

Fairfax Lions recognized VLEIF Scholarship Recipient Sadie Spence (and family) as well as Peace Poster Winner Jimena Villatora (and family and teacher) at our regular dinner meeting. Kudos to PCC Harry and Lion Jeff for their work on these programs. Seeing young people committed to doing more makes on proud to be a Lion!

Hearing about the Lions Eye Clinic - Northern Virginia’s only free advanced eye care clinic - at our meeting tonight.
Supporting their efforts is the club’s focus for our 75th Anniversary fundraising effort.
