📚✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾BIG wins for FCPS educators, students, and our schools.

The approved 2026–27 FCPS budget reflects what we know to be true: investing in public education matters. This budget fully funds employee contracts, supports reduced class sizes, protects jobs, and keeps FCPS moving forward without cuts that would harm students or educators.

Highlights include:
✅ Fully funded contracts with step increases and a 3% MSA
✅ Reduced class sizes to better support student learning
✅ A balanced budget that invests in stronger schools
✅ Protection of positions and critical school supports

This is what advocacy, organizing, and collective action can accomplish when educators and communities speak up together.

It's National Teacher Appreciation Week, and today, we say, "Thank you, Teachers!!"

Let’s show our dedicated teachers how much we appreciate them by transforming appreciation into ACTION. That means respect, fair wages, and a voice at the table when decisions about our schools and students’ futures are made.

Here are some ways to turn your APPRECIATION into ACTION:
💙 Support collective bargaining rights in your state. Educators earn more—24% more, on average—where they have strong unions and the freedom to bargain collectively.

💙 Vote for pro-public education candidates for your school board, state house, and U.S. Congress.

💙 Speak up for teachers at school board meetings. Ensure their voices and needs are heard by local leaders who decide funding, salaries, benefits, class sizes, and more.

🚌 Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 🚌

To the people who keep us on the right route every single day — we see you, and we think you're 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒆𝒍-𝒚 great!

Thank you for every safe stop, every cheerful wave, and every moment you've gone the extra mile (𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺). You're not just driving a bus — you're steering futures in the right direction.

We're so grateful you're in the driver's seat. Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Day!

“The labor movement was the principal force that transformed misery and despair into hope and progress.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On this day of reverence and Remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr., we honor more than a dream—we honor the discipline, courage, and love that sustained a movement.

Dr. King stood with workers because he understood that justice, dignity, and collective power are inseparable. His leadership showed us that real change comes from love guided by accountability and respect for the collective.

Today, we recommit to those values—and to the long work of justice, together.

✨ Happy Labor Day from the FEA ✨

Today, we honor the generations of working people—educators, organizers, builders, and dreamers—who stood shoulder to shoulder to win the rights we sometimes take for granted: fair wages, safe workplaces, the eight-hour day, and the right to organize.

Labor Day isn’t just a holiday. It’s a reminder of the struggles and triumphs that shaped our nation—and the responsibility we carry forward. From the early textile mill strikes and railroad walkouts to the ongoing fights for dignity in classrooms, cafeterias, and communities, the labor movement has always been about people coming together to demand justice.

As educators, we carry this tradition proudly. Our union is part of a living history that stretches from the picket lines of the past to the bargaining tables of today. We fight not only for fair pay and respect for educators, but also for the schools our students deserve: safe, fully funded, and rooted in equity.

On this Labor Day, let us celebrate our shared victories, recognize the challenges still ahead, and recommit ourselves to the simple truth that when we organize, we win.

✊🏽 Solidarity forever! Thank you for the work you do every day to lift up our students, schools, and communities.

On Friday, August 29, Arlington Public Schools (APS) and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) filed a lawsuits against the U.S. Department of Education, arguing that its funding freeze is unconstitutional. Fairfax schools could lose $167 million—putting students, educators, and classrooms directly at risk. Here is the statement from FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle C. Reid:

Dr. Reid gives an update about a matter with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) concerning Fairfax County Public Schools’ policies on bathroom and locker room use based on gender identity.
